Good non violent positive outlook.

Actually a nice break from the usual psycho killer gang running rampant SHTF scenario. It’s nice to imagine people would be this open and willing in a survive or die situation.

Great P.A.T

I really enjoyed the whole series. I listened to this in about 3 days. It was hard to put down. The character development was really good and the story-line went well with the scenario. There were a couple conflicts that I thought were a little skewed and didn't quite fit the groups ability (like the teenagers being able to steal all their food from a lodge they were staying). Overall I like this writer and would read/listen to more from him. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

But the comfort and renewal they sought soon descends into chaos - even before the EMP hits. When a message from an old college buddy leads Austin to a bridge in the middle of nowhere, he finds his friend - now an NSA agent - waiting to give him a USB drive. Before the contents can be explained, machine gun fire strafes the bridge, killing Austin’s friend and forcing Austin into the raging river.

New take on TEOTWAWKI scenario.
Revisado: 10-15-19
Overall I really liked the story line and the characters. The book started out slow and I was hard pressed to keep the timelines straight. As the story progressed, I found that i was able to get into Grace's writing style and the progression of time. At first I thought the plot was going to head into another "invincible" protagonist that has uncanny luck story but she did a great job making the characters real and keeping that cover over the rest of the characters. There were characters I did not like but that is not a bad thing...they fit into the story and were developed well enough. The different approach she took on an EMP event allowed me to imagine a softer world in such chaos. Bad guys made just as many mistakes as the good guys and not everyone killed or was killed at the site of other people. I liked the idea that society wouldn't take a head dive straight into cannibalism/mass murder in the first few hours. SPOILER*** I enjoyed the wanna-be pepper brother with the compound and fortress that completely blitz on him and trapped him in his own house. I could read a whole book on just that scenario.
The narrator left me a little disappointed but I was able to get through and eventually it was ok. I will be purchasing the other books in the series and look forward to them. I received this title for free in exchange for an unbiased review.

I have not read any books by the authors in this series. I have read countless Post apocalyptic books and this story was a nice change of pace from the normal genre. The characters could have been developed a little more for my liking but over all I got to know them and their personalities well enough that it fit with the story pace. What I really like about this particular story is the believably of the whole scenario. There was no sudden "No one knows what just happened" type of event. There was a slow progression of decline with a pop at the end. But things had taken place to get to a real story...no drowning the story in travels on the road to get to a home that is getting attacked or the family is split and the main character had to get home while the family barley fends off some evil. I like how it portrays a normal family that follows a prepper family to their bug out location. The internal conflict and turmoil is more real life. This scenario is something that could really happen and most likely would. The group is at odds in a stressful situation....that is real. I look forward to listening to the rest of the series and hope it stays down to earth. As always Kevin Pierce is the best post apocalyptic narrator out there. I think Kevin could read shampoo bottles and i would listen. I received this title for free in exchange for an unbiased review.
