Of the five contenders for power, one is dead, another in disfavor, and still the wars rage. Joffrey sits on the Iron Throne, the uneasy ruler of the Seven Kingdoms. His most bitter rival, Lord Stannis, stands defeated and disgraced, victim of the sorceress who holds him in her thrall. Young Robb still rules the North from the fortress of Riverrun. Meanwhile, making her way across a blood-drenched continent is the exiled queen, Daenerys, mistress of the only three dragons left in the world.

Roy Dotrice is an amazing narrator!
Revisado: 05-05-22
Great book with a lot of characters who Dotrice artfully designates with distinct voices. I would not have made it this far in the series without these excellent audio renditions. The story is brilliant, but don't go in expecting a knee-slapper- these books are about terrible humans doing terrible things to less terrible humans. Lots of grim storylines, but artfully told.

Spookier than I remembered, and Curry's narration is perfection! A great story that stands the test of time, and Tim Curry's talent makes it shine.

Historia
One of our best-loved actors, Michael Caine has starred in over 100 films in his six-decade career, spanning classic movies like Alfie, Zulu, and The Italian Job (the inspiration for the book title) to playing Alfred opposite Christian Bale's Batman in Christopher Nolan's blockbuster Dark Knight trilogy. Caine has excelled in every kind of role - with a skill that's made it look easy. As he says, "Small parts can lead to big things. And if you keep doing things right, the stars will align when you least expect it."

Excellent book!! Heartily recommended!
Revisado: 12-10-20
This was one of the most enjoyable audiobooks I've ever heard. The book was engaging and beautifully written. Eleanor was a wonderful character and seeing the world from her eyes was an adventure. I wanted to hug her so many times throughout the book. This is the rare audiobook that I will eventually add to my physical bookshelf as well.
The narrator was exceptionally good, and a true pleasure to listen to; her Scottish accent is melodic and clear. Most important, the characters are easily distinguishable through the distinct and believable voices that she creates.

Historia
At the end of the Second World War, Cyril Conroy combines luck and a single canny investment to begin an enormous real estate empire, propelling his family from poverty to enormous wealth. His first order of business is to buy the Dutch House, a lavish estate in the suburbs outside of Philadelphia. Meant as a surprise for his wife, the house sets in motion the undoing of everyone he loves. The story is told by Cyril’s son Danny, as he and his older sister, the brilliantly acerbic and self-assured Maeve, are exiled from the house where they grew up by their stepmother.
