Historia
Fusing the narrative power of an award-winning novelist and the detailed research of an experienced investigator, author Darcy O'Brien unfolds the story of Dr. John Dale Cavaness, the southern Illinois physician and surgeon charged with the murder of his son Sean in December 1984. Outraged by the arrest of the skilled medical practitioner who selflessly attended to their needs, the people of Little Egypt, as the natives call their region, rose to his defense. But during the subsequent trial, a radically different, disquieting portrait of Dr. Cavaness would emerge.

WHEN SATAN IS YOUR FATHER
Revisado: 04-25-25
I’m from St. Louis, but did not live in town during this time. Thanks to family in law and order in St. Louis, I was able to verify and get more of the story. As one put it, “You could feel the temperature drop when Dale entered the room.” Another said,” In all my years I have never met anyone so evil.”

Not predictable! Every time I thought I knew what was going to happen - it didn't. Nicely twisted.
I'll follow the writer as well as the excellent narrator.
Very creditworthy.

I like the way Ambrose writes. His use of adjectives and adverbs is interesting.
This storyline is interesting enough that I just purchased, no, I'm saving my credit, book 3.

Historia
It was summer in the mountains when five small children vanished from their nursery school picnic. The heat was stifling that day, the tinkle of an ice-cream van in the air.... Three-and-a-half years later, in the dead of winter, the children are returned to their families...one by one. All except for Ivy - the granddaughter of Homicide Detective Kate Wakeland. The other four children say Ivy is dead.

NOT PREDICTABLE
Revisado: 12-15-24
The story and narrator get A+.
I get tired of listening to anything over 10 hours, and I just want the story to end.
But this had me guessing until the end - no boredom! So I used a credit on the second book in the series. Hopefully I will enjoy equally if not more.

Historia
Connie can't deny she's nervous about meeting her boyfriend's family. Spending the weekend at their ritzy woodland summer home, Evan's already given her fair warning that his parents are cold, snobbish, and especially unpleasant toward those outside their usual social circles. So when Evan's mother warmly greets them with open arms, Connie is as confused as he is. They're so friendly, in fact, Evan himself can hardly believe they're real. Then, while helping Evan's mother with dinner, Connie overhears strange noises coming from the basement—what almost sounds like voices calling out for help.

Bravo! This is a book I would have loved at 16. Funny how some things never change. I’m 70, and although it didn’t scare me, I enjoyed the banter and the nod to victims of pedophiles

Historia
No one knows what happened that morning at River Point. Five boys went hunting. Four came back. The boys won't say who fired the shot that killed their friend, Grant; the evidence shows it could have been any one of them. Kate Marino's senior year internship at the District Attorney's Office isn't exactly glamorous - more like an excuse to leave school early that looks good on college applications. Then the DA hands her boss, Mr. Stone, the biggest case her small town of Belle Terre has ever seen.

I AM NOT A PRUDE
Revisado: 03-30-24
I must not have read all the details. The explicet sex scene between two men took me by surprise.
Furthermore, it was in the beginning of the book, so I anticipated there would be more sex than mystery.
NOT FOR ME!!
