A lot of mental illness. But not the usual 40K kind. Sometimes hard to follow with voice actors voice inflections but I enjoyed the book

Historia
On the fringes of the Cicatrix Maledictum, the Black Templars of the Second Dorean Crusade tear through the void to join the crusade fleet on the sands of Tempest – an ancient, storied shrine world. Assailed by the murderous warbands of the Blood God, the crusade has come to burn the planet clean of the Ruinous Powers once and for all. But when a violent warp storm scatters the fleet, the Dauntless Honour is left battered and alone in the void. Besieged by doubt, Castellan Emeric and his brothers must cling to their faith and carve a way to Tempest.

Great Templar book.

I enjoyed the narrator’s voice for space marines more so than other voice actors. He didn’t have a great range but I loved what he did do well enough to ignore.
Story was I felt grim dark. With its ups and depressing moments.

Historia
Cadia licks its wounds in the wake of the Thirteenth Black Crusade. The heretic forces retreat on all fronts. The day is won. But Lord Castellan Creed cannot rest easy. Something tells him the assault was a mere prelude to something greater, something more final. He is right. Out of the Eye of Terror comes Abaddon the Despoiler, at the head of a warhost unmatched in scale since the dread days of the Horus Heresy. In the face of the looming apocalypse, Creed must weld the champions of Cadia into a bulwark capable of withstanding Abaddon’s fury.

Alpha legion, Kharne, and Celestine
Revisado: 08-20-24
Great book. One of my favorites (around 80ish books). Andy Clark goes more in depth than most writers with the inner workers of small combat doctrines and tactics than other writers. No fault to the writers as they are writers unfamiliar with military doctrines.
He paints a great picture where you’re rooting for almost everyone. The alpha legionnaires trying to survive, the imperial fist capt, even the cultist. Yet Kharne enters the picture ….

Historia
Once a united Legion, the disparate splinters of the Emperor’s Children now eke out a violent, hedonistic existence between the stars, raiding and ravaging worlds to indulge their fathomless appetites. Xantine, proud leader of the Adored and a true son of Fulgrim, wants more than simply pillaging backwater worlds. He soon finds what he has been searching for – Serrine, a wealthy but cruel planet festering under misrule and inequality, cut off from the Imperium by warp storms. It is too tantalising a prize to ignore, and Xantine sets out to bring perfection to his new world.

Historia
Of all the Emperor’s immortal sons, the primarchs, it is Konrad Curze whose legend is the darkest. Born in the shadows of Nostramo, a world of murderers, thieves and worse, is it any surprise that he became the figure of dread known only as the Night Haunter? Heed now the tragic story of the creature Konrad Curze, master of the Night Lords Legion, of how he became a monster and a weapon of terror. He who once served the Imperium saw the truth in a maddening universe and the hypocrisy of a loveless father, and embraced the only thing that made any sense - darkness.

Superb Narration
Revisado: 11-23-19
The Narrator did such a splendid job I will seek out further works by him specifically. I’ve heard about 15 books and this one stands out.
The story was unique as it is a first of relatable feelings coming from Space Marines. Usually the characters are too stoic but having blood brothers in the actual same unit made this unique.
Highly recommend for Space Marine and Orc lovers
