Maggie Miller doesn't disappoint
Revisado: 11-02-24
Once again Ms. Miller presents a light, fun story with characters so believable and easy to imagine. Although the performance is often hard to listen to . If you can make it through a few chapters you can overlook the voice lift at the end of each sentence. The performer does do a fair job with the characters voices.
Book overall was great.

Historia
Lina Meisel, a retired librarian in Florida, is reading the newspaper one morning when she freezes. Her eyes lock on a photograph of a book she hasn’t seen in 65 years - a book she recognizes as The Book of Lost Names. The accompanying article discusses the looting of libraries by the Nazis across Europe during World War II - an experience Lina remembers well - and the search to reunite people with the texts stolen from them so long ago. The book in the photograph is one of the most fascinating cases.

Couldn't put this book down.
Revisado: 03-27-24
The reader of this book totally made the story and characters come to life. The author has written an intriguing look of the cells that fought to help the Jewish people in France to escape the country and survive this horrific ordeal. Her intwining of lives and the development of their characters was amazing! Highly recommend this book. will be looking for others by this author!

Touching Memoir
Revisado: 01-26-24
As this story unfolds, one is drawn into the lives of each character as if they are part of your own life. The author did a great job in making each character as well as the storyline so believable and realistic. The narrator did an amazing job as well. A must read.

Wingate's development of her characters, and storyline help the reader feel a part of the story. She makes me anxious to get back to the book to soak in more of her story. The performance by Mia Barron was excellent as well.

The Old Testament brought to life
Revisado: 05-01-22
Once again, in this the 4th book of the Chronicles of the Kings, Lynn Austin does not disappoint. The story she shares about how the lives of king Hezekiah's son Manasseh, and Joshua, son of Eliakim, best friends from birth, can change so quickly and drastically by a simple seed of doubt in God planted in Manasseh by a complete stranger. Austin is one of the best story tellers I have ever read. Her books bring the Bible to life and leave you wanting to know more.
Suzanne Torren, the narrator, is unmatched. I have never listened to a narrator as well versed and enjoyable to listen to.
Highly recommend this Audio Book!

Loved thus book. Suzanne Toren did an amazing job with the voices of the different characters. She should be commended. The book is based on bible passages, and truly brings certain stories to life as one realizes this is how it could have been in that time. Definitely recommend!

Historia
The year 1996 was the one that changed everything for Maggie Dawes. Sent away at 16 to live with an aunt she barely knew in Ocracoke, a remote village on North Carolina’s Outer Banks, she could think only of the friends and family she left behind...until she met Bryce Trickett, one of the few teenagers on the island. Handsome, genuine, and newly admitted to West Point, Bryce showed her how much there was to love about the wind-swept beach town - and introduced her to photography, a passion that would define the rest of her life. By 2019, Maggie is a renowned travel photographer.

Nicholas Sparks doesn't Disappoint!!!
Revisado: 12-29-21
Once again Nicholas Sparks does not disappoint! This sweet, poignant story has Maggie Daws sharing her tale about her teen pregnancy and being sent away to live with an aunt until the baby came. The story seemed predictable, but one little detail, kept one from predicting, until a twist at the end of the book.
Although Mela Lee did an excellent job performing, Will Collyer was choppy and very unconvincing. His matter-of-fact reading style, made those parts of the book hard to listen to.
The storyline and general tale of the book make it one very worthwhile read.
I LOVED this book!!!

Historia
Two men, each handsome and unusually adept at his chosen work, embodied an element of the great dynamic that characterized America’s rush toward the twentieth century. The architect was Daniel Hudson Burnham, the fair’s brilliant director of works and the builder of many of the country’s most important structures, including the Flatiron Building in New York and Union Station in Washington, D.C. The murderer was Henry H. Holmes, a young doctor who, in a malign parody of the White City, built his “World’s Fair Hotel” just west of the fairgrounds.

Intriguing
Revisado: 08-10-21
Mr. Larson's extensive research regarding the 1893 World Fair and how this amazing event came to fruition, along with the intertwining story of H.H. Holmes, a psychopathic serial killer whose killing spree took place during that time, was perfectly presented. Thinking this book was going to be mostly about Holmes, it was a pleasant surprise to learn so much history about this life-changing expo! The author's descriptions made the fair, and all the work leading up to it, come to life.
The reader, Mr. Brick, did an excellent job of keeping this multi-faceted story alive and the reader(listener) riveted.
Highly recommend this book.

great storyline idea
Revisado: 07-13-21
The book was good, and the storyline seemed strong, But it failed to deliver as the plot needed to be further developed. The author's use if descriptors was good....there was just something missing....and I believe that was just a more detailed story.
The reader did a wonderful job and helped bring life to the characters.
