Historia
Porter Beck is the sheriff in the high desert of Nevada, north of Las Vegas. Born and raised there, he left to join the Army, where he worked in Intelligence, deep in the shadows in far off places. Now he's back home, doing the same lawman's job his father once did, before his father started to develop dementia. All is relatively quiet in this corner of the world, until on old, retired FBI agent is found killed. He was brutally tortured before he was killed and clues at the scene point to a mystery dating back to the early days of the nuclear age.

Way too many characters.

I don’t think even the author could keep up with this crazy cast of characters. I listened to the end but wouldn’t do it again.

Thank Bob, Mr. King is back.
Revisado: 09-22-23
Yes. I am one of the faithful - since 1976 when getting scared to death while late night babysitting was my guilty thrill. Back then I had no idea of how horrible humans can be.
I stayed on the King band bus through my twenties, thirties, and forties paying my fair-share fare at every stop. In my fifties I thought the bus was running low on fuel and I might need to get off and call an Uber. I am glad I did not.
Now, reading this book while babysitting my grands, I realize the thrill wasn’t gone after all. The bus had just taken a slight detour and seems to be firmly back on the right route.

Historia
Spanning the years 1900 to 1977, The Covenant of Water is set in Kerala, on South India’s Malabar Coast, and follows three generations of a family that suffers a peculiar affliction: in every generation, at least one person dies by drowning—and in Kerala, water is everywhere. At the turn of the century, a twelve-year-old girl from Kerala’s long-existing Christian community, grieving the death of her father, is sent by boat to her wedding, where she will meet her forty-year-old husband for the first time.

Historia
Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing as an average woman. But it’s the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute takes a very unscientific view of equality. Except for one: Calvin Evans; the lonely, brilliant, Nobel–prize nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with—of all things—her mind. True chemistry results.
