Historia
Georgie, or Lady Georgiana Rannoch, is busy planning her upcoming nuptials to Darcy O'Mara. Unfortunately, what has started as a simple wedding has become quite a royal headache and grand affair, thanks to a guest list that includes the queen and the appointment of princesses as Georgie's bridesmaids. “If only Darcy and I had eloped!” she thinks, as she attempts to organize her wedding and find a place for her and her husband-to-be to live. Just as she despairs of ever finding a home, her godfather offers his fully staffed country estate. But something sinister is afoot....

Dumb story, hardly any wedding. Awful narrator.
Revisado: 10-14-24
This was so bad I returned it for a refund after listening. No one could be as dumb after doing as much as Georgie. This narrator doesn’t seem to have listened to the previous books or her performance would’ve at least somewhat resembled the pervious artist.

Why is someone that has been completely ridiculous become just part of the group? The Ronald character just makes lame story lines totally unbelievable.

Electra McDonnell has always known that the way she and her family earn their living is slightly outside of the law. Breaking into the homes of the rich and picking the locks on their safes may not be condoned by British law enforcement, but World War II is in full swing, Ellie's cousins, Colm and Toby, are off fighting against Hitler, and Uncle Mick's more honorable business as a locksmith can't pay the bills anymore. So when Uncle Mick receives a tip about a safe full of jewels in the empty house of a wealthy family, he and Ellie can’t resist.

Took me a while but I ended up really liking it.
Revisado: 09-01-23
This is a fun and fast paced WWII espionage story. The narrators voice throws me off. She made me think of Eliza Doolittle from my fair Lady. I had to listen at 1.3 speed to tolerate her. At that speed I was able to ignore her broad cockney accent. It just felt like the early 1900s vs the 1940s. After that adjustment I really enjoyed it. I will listen to the second one.

I just could not get into the story. I listened to the whole book, but I did not enjoy it like I have other books in the series. I hope the next book is better. I don’t see anything in the story that adds to the overall development of either character or plot.

Ellison in a different setting/story
Revisado: 01-02-23
My first shot at this review, pun intended, is that I enjoyed this book, even without the narrative of Mr. Coffee. I love the country club series due to Julie Mulhern's writing style. In her previous books, she has placed us directly in the 70s with a convincing voice and straightforward writing style. I can see her version of Kansas City and all the different areas she visits clearly in my mind.
This story is different. Ellison's not only out of Kansas City, it doesn't feel too much like the 1970s either. I missed her arguments with her mother, even though you get a touch of it here, and he interactions with her daughter, Grace.
It is good to try something new. Nice to see Ellison and Anarchy in a different setting, dealing with some unique issues; I just found I didn't care about any of the other characters apart from Libba. If I had the choice to buy or pass on it, I would buy it. However, I will reread it; it is still good and enjoyable, just a little off the mark.
I still look forward to the next installment. I would love to see a lot more of Hunter Taft; he is an underused character I hope we see more of in the future. He isn't a love interest, but he's a handy guy. Does her half-sister Carma have any kids? I think she does, and I'm looking forward to something new happening in Henry's old study.

Historia
Melissa North had assumed that after eight years of not setting eyes on each other, her youthful attraction to - or an infatuation with - Julian Delamere, once Viscount Dagenham and now earl of Carsely, would have faded to nothing and gasped its last. Unfortunately, during the intervening years, she has failed to find any suitable suitor who measures up to her mark, and she is resigned to ending her days an old maid. Then she sees Julian across a crowded ballroom, and he sees her, and the intensity of their connection shocks her.

Yes it's bad, here's why you should pass on it...
Revisado: 12-21-22
All the previous reviews are pretty much right. This should have been a stand alone book. There is almost no Mrs. Osbalderstone in this very long story. The author should have kept this located in Little Mosley and had the main characters be part of the story. We all wanted see how these two would work out their love story, but not so much their sex life. The break down is this:
1. This should have been under 7 hours. There is no reason for it to be this long, it just isn't interesting.
2. There is zero conflict. Zero. What is a love story without conflict?
3. The original characters are about 1% of this story, so dissappointing.
4. Ridiculous plot of death that has no interest at all.
6. The MALE narrator sounds like the guy that did movie intros in the 1980s and 1990s in the entire book. Just wrong. Someone said it was like listening to a documentary, and they were right.
7. Any positive reviews had to come from family and friends. It was off the mark and just a boring story line. The writing is fine, but pay and editor and cut it down to 7 hours. Add more conflict and make it family friendly.
I would pass on this book. It makes me sad to say it, but I don't recommend it.

Historia
After her release from a concentration camp, Corrie ten Boom set out to become what she called a “tramp for the Lord,” traveling around the world at the direction of God and proclaiming his message everywhere. Throughout her life-long experiences, she learned a few lessons in God’s great classroom, which she here shares with listeners. Corrie introduces us to her former prison guard, who asks her for forgiveness; a war-crippled lawyer with a soul as twisted and deformed as his limbs; and more.

Poor narration when the main character speaks. Ridiculous story.
Revisado: 11-08-22
I like the general narrative ok, but when she speaks as Georgiana she pauses between to many words. It morphs into sounding robotic. This is at 1.3 speed to boot. It’s like having a comma after every work in a sentence. I wish they would re-record them, but the plot was weak and the Darcy character was unbelievable.
