Adventures of Eddy Flynn
Revisado: 03-31-25
Witness was not as good as previous novels in the series,
Looking forward to more in the series. The story could have been more developed, missed Eddie and his courtroom skills. Not many twists and turns as I have come to expect.
The positive was it's fast paced and a few new characters might be showing up in future novels.

Abe Winter and Ruth Warneke were never meant to be together—at least if you ask Ruth. Yet their catastrophic blind date in college evolved into a seventy-year marriage and a life on a farm on Bainbridge Island with their hens and beloved Labrador, Megs. Through the years, the Winters have fallen in and out of lockstep, and from their haunting losses and guarded secrets, a dependable partnership has been forged.

Historia
On Mother's Day night, 2004, award-winning fourth grade teacher Nancy Seaman left the Tudor home she shared with her husband of 32 years in the gated community of Farmington Hills, near Detroit, Michigan, and drove in a driving rain storm to Home Depot, to purchase a hatchet. Three days later, police discovered the mutilated body of Bob Seaman - a successful auto industry engineer, softball coach and passionate collector of vintage Mustangs - in the back of the family's Ford Explorer.

True Crime
Revisado: 10-19-24
First half was interesting, second half was repetitious with no new insights or revelations .There were some follow up interviews that were interesting but superficial. The change of sentence for the accused was the only new information and should have been included after the first half of the book. This book could have told the tale in half the time instead of the 13 hours.
One of my favorite authors with mostly 5 star reviews. I also would have like the author to have narrated herself.

Together, the two girls play games, learn to cook in the stone kitchen of Homa’s warm home, wander through the colorful stalls of the Grand Bazaar, and share their ambitions for becoming “lion women.”

Another excellent book by Marjan Kamali
Revisado: 09-15-24
Anything read by Mozhan Navabi draws you deeply into the character and story. Excellent narration!
The story brings you into the life of people in Iran who are forced to adapt or fight for change from repressive regimes over many years. Marjan Kamali has the ability to transport the reader/listener into the lives of her characters.
The novel shows what the changing political environment did to the women and men, and for many it ended in torture and death. The spirit of never giving up for human rights and equality and the sacrifice to achieve it is ever present .The power of friendship and family with an inside look into everyday life of different social classes.
There is a behind the scenes reminder, these regimes control the populations and its almost impossible to overturn the political power in control but the people are not giving up, Having rights then the government taking those rights away,...so that they can have power, control and wealth...

Might be better to read
Revisado: 11-01-23
Could not get into the narration, I really like Amy Harmon, a very talented author. 'What the Wind Knows", 4, star "From Sand and Ash", 5 stars, "The Unknown Beloved", 4 stars. When I saw this audio book was available, I was eager to listen. I tried on three separate occasions and I could not get past the dialogue and narration. I am still looking forward to the next historical fiction novel by this author, but will listen to a sample first.

Godfather, Sopranos, City of Dreams
Revisado: 04-30-23
This is the 2nd novel in a trilogy. Definitely read or listen to them in order. City on Fire is the first and was excellent. City of Dreams is also very good but not as strong. I did not want either book to end and am looking forward to City in Ruins (4/24). Sony acquired the rights and there should be a movie.
Excellent performance by Ari Fliakos

Historia
With her reputation as a vilde chaya (wild animal), Fanny Keismann isn’t like the other women in her shtetl in the Pale of Settlement - certainly not her obedient and anxiety-ridden sister, Mende, whose “philosopher” of a husband has run off to Minsk, abandoning her and their two children. As a young girl, Fanny felt an inexorable pull toward her father’s profession of ritual slaughterer and, under his reluctant guidance, became a master with a knife. And though she long ago gave up that unsuitable profession, Fanny still keeps the knife tied to her right leg.

Historical fiction at it's best
Revisado: 07-18-21
Historical fiction at it's best ! An amazing read, you are transported to the late 1890's and are totally immersed in the adventure. I did not want this story to end. The plot, characters, setting, humor hit the mark. Extremely difficult in a translation, Orr Scharf did an amazing job. Tovah Feldshuh was an excellent narrator. She gave every single character a personality.
I hope that Yaniv Iczkovits has a sequel in the works or at the very least another novel to be published soon.
