Historia
Kelsey Willoughby doesn’t have time to pursue her dream of writing a novel. Imagination doesn’t pay the bills, and she’s busy saving her beautiful bookshop from online competition, hotel developers, and the sneaking suspicion that nobody reads anymore. Not to mention all those voices telling her she doesn’t have talent. But then the vacant lot of weeds next door starts to shimmer.

Underwhelming predictable.
Revisado: 06-12-24
It was a listening that I had to work to make to the end. The narrator did fine job reading. Overall it was scattered. What was the purpose of going deeper and experiencing the moment in Egypt it felt just thrown. The end where it all worked out while nice uplifting was akin to the authors reference to you got mail. She meets the hotel in the middle and everyone wins. Her sculpture boyfriend was shallow not enough of his story. But on the plus side the author encapsulated everything thought about my own writing. I admire the sheer dedication to put this book out come what may. I was inspired to put some of my own ideas to paper or computer. I can give her that.

A field guide to the after life
Revisado: 06-06-24
This will have been at last count my fifth reading of this book and each time is a new experience. Richard Matheson has giving me more than a life time of reflection; while faith in the traditional sense is difficult for me this book will be my guide to possibly building a better afterlife for me. So I owe you my gratitude.

Historia
In Real Queer America, Samantha Allen takes us on a cross-country road-trip stretching all the way from Provo, Utah to the Rio Grande Valley to the Bible Belt to the Deep South. Her motto for the trip: "Something gay every day." Making pit stops at drag shows, political rallies, and hubs of queer life across the heartland, she introduces us to scores of extraordinary LGBT people working for change, from the first openly transgender mayor in Texas history to the manager of the only queer night club in Bloomington, Indiana, and many more.

This book from an author I’d and journalist I’d never of was incredible and full of hope for the future. Calling the south my home for as long as I remember having felt and still feel the south has long way to go. Alabama is usually the last to be apart of progressive history. #alabamathelast. I hope one day that my financial independence will no longer hinge on how I choose to identify. Till then i must survive in the closet.
