This is a grossly reduced version of the book which covers far more. It seems they selected the most boring and trivial aspects of the book and made this. Unfortunate but all the more reason to read rather than listen.

Historia
The Confessions of St. Augustine is one of the most moving diaries ever recorded of a man's journey to the fountain of God's grace. Writing as a sinner, not a saint, Augustine shares his innermost thoughts and conversion experiences, and wrestles with the spiritual questions that have stirred the hearts of the thoughtful since time began.

A great read/ listen. The language itself is tough to get through but this reading is clear and very manageable. Many wonderful gems to found in this work.

Historia
More than 2,000 years later, Plato's Republic remains astonishingly relevant to our everyday lives. It poses one question after another that might well have been drawn from the headlines and debates of our nation's recent history: What sort of person should rule the state? Are all citizens equal before the law? Should everyone have equal access to health care? Plato's greater inquiry, however, was into the question of defining justice itself and the reasons why a person would choose a life aligned with that virtue.

Platitudinal cheerleading.
Revisado: 06-28-23
This book is more an SEL sales brochure than anything else. All the usual tropes about “being your true self” and whats now called DE&so are in here. She makes frequent statements about how her methods haven’t been known or used until recently but that’s BS. She just repackaging the same old nonsense and calling it new. She offers storytelling instead of science but that’s the modern method of sophistical self-therapy.
- I listened to this book due it being recommended by a friend but I would not recommend it.

Historia
Have you heard that language is violence and that science is sexist? Have you read that certain people shouldn't practice yoga? Or been told that being obese is healthy, that there is no such thing as biological sex, or that only White people can be racist? Are you confused by these ideas, and do you wonder how they have managed to challenge the logic of Western society? In this probing volume, Helen Pluckrose and James Lindsay document the evolution of the dogma that informs these ideas, from its coarse origins in French postmodernism to its refinement within activist academic fields.

Excellent breakdown of the subject.
Revisado: 03-05-23
As stated in the title, this book gives an excellent breakdown of all the “diverse” forms of grievance groups and though it can be a slog at points, it’s well worth it if you are interested in todays perversion of philosophy.
There nothing more inclusive than stupidity, nothing more diverse than perversion.

Historia
Socialists and feminists have long targeted the family as an enemy, even the enemy. For socialists, the family is an obstacle to the full power of the progressive state. For feminists, the family denies female independence and equality. Today, however, the battle has grown even fiercer, as socialists and feminists have found a global ally in the United Nations, which is using its extraordinary power to undercut the authority and the sanctity of the family around the world - even in the United States.

Organized and Interesting
Revisado: 02-14-23
Aside from some of the disturbing statistics much of the book is easily observed in real time and ultimately we are in an age where the most basic concepts of dignity, morality and acceptable behavior have to be painfully listed out like some science report.

Historia
According the New York Times’ “1619 Project”, America was not founded in 1776, with a declaration of freedom and independence, but in 1619 with the introduction of African slavery into the New World. Ever since then, the “1619 Project” argues, American history has been one long sordid tale of systemic racism.

An easy argument crippled by sensationalism
Revisado: 09-15-21
1619, and all it’s peripheral nonsense, takes only the slightest bit of remedial education to put back in its place, the trash bin.
However, this book is a slog of sensationalized “she did what!?”. The reading sounds more like a gossip column than an actual argument against 1619.

Historia
Whitehead presented these three lectures at Princeton University in 1929. Although 85 years have passed, his central thesis and his analysis remain remarkably current. The scientific materialism that Whitehead opposed with such vigor continues to dominate in academic circles, and even now those who question that worldview are often accused of being antiscientific. This is especially true in discussions of the nature of the human mind and its relation to the body (particularly the brain).

Historia
Among the monuments of world literature, few works have been as influential as the Divine Comedy. Dante's compendious allegory of a journey through the world of the afterlife is significant on many levels. It established Italian as a literary language, and consolidated the position of Florentine Italian as the lingua franca of the Italian peninsula. As an engaging portrait of the social and intellectual life in medieval Florence it is unrivalled
