not the right narrator
Revisado: 11-16-21
story was great, really a nice trip back into the old kingdom. but the narrator was a horrible choice. not that she's bad in general, but just far from the right voice for these characters and the setting that they are in. Far too bright and girlish. What should be dark, grave, or deep voiced characters sound...ridiculous

Historia
Deep beneath the mountain fortress of Skullcap, legend has it, are the remains of the dark wizard Fistandantilus and the path to the gates of the dwarven kingdom of Thorbardin. Buried somewhere along that perilous path is the magical helm of Grallen, son of King Duncan, tragic hero of the Dwarfgate War. The finder of Grallen's helm, it is prophesized, will be rewarded and honored by a united Thorbardin - but he will also open the gates of the realm to fresh horror and chaos.

How was this allowed to be published?
Revisado: 12-28-18
None of this happened. It completely ignored the events in the core novels by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman. Like they never happened. How could Rastlin, Sturm and the gang found the helm if it'd been found like in this book? And the mountain dwarves trading, or traveling outside? The gates location being more or less common knowledge? This book is an affront to the whole of Dragonlance

It's like the author never read dragonlance before
Revisado: 12-02-18
If this was the first dragonlance book you've picked up it might actually be good. But if you've read the works of Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman, then it's horrible. Not a thing in this book is accurate to the original story. Characters, names, places, time line, plots etc are all completely wrong. It's a wonder if was allowed to be published. Curse "creative license". The author should be sued for defamation or something. These books from other authors are meant to fill in the story. Give further detail to events that are glossed over in the main series. This does nothing but make a mess of everything

Annoying narrator
Revisado: 10-31-18
While the narrator is good with accents, there are too many, and people from the same place have wildly varying accents. Also, her voice, while pleasant enough, does not lend itself well at all to voicing male characters, or to the fantasy genre in general

The latest title in a series based on characters from the best-selling War of Souls trilogy. This title is the next in a series that explores the lives of key characters from Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman's New York Times best-selling War of Souls trilogy. The Lake of Death describes events that directly overlap events during the War of Souls and is an unofficial sequel to Rabe's Dhamon Saga trilogy. Author Jean Rabe is well known by both recent and long-term Dragonlance novel fans.

Worst yet
Revisado: 10-12-18
I had hoped that Jean Rabe would have continued her slow but steady path in the improvement of her place in the world of Dragonlance. But no, this book is by far the worst of her collection surrounding Dhamon. It was extremely shallow. Entire character personalities change from the previous book. For example, Raagh reads like he's a Kender now. And the narrator was horrible to, but not so much as to compare to the trash that is this book. The characters deserved much better than they got

Historia
How far can a hero fall? Far enough to lose his soul? Dhamon Grimwulf, once a Hero of the Heart, has sunk into a bitter life of crime and squalor. Now, as the great dragon overlords of the Fifth Age coldly plot to strengthen their rule and to destroy their enemies, he must somehow find the will to redeem himself. But perhaps it is too late. Downfall marks the return of Dhamon and other characters from author Jean Rabe's bestselling Dragons of a New Age trilogy.

Narrator sucks
Revisado: 09-27-18
Better than Rabes first attempt at the dragonlance series for sure. But the narrator is horrible. Can't pronounce anything properly. Many names of characters and places are horribly mispronounced, so much so that it takes a while sometimes to actually figure out who/where he is taking about. The most grating of which was his pronunciation of Sky. Seriously? It's Sky. How much easier does it get.

Years have passed since the end of the War of the Lance. The people of Ansalon have rebuilt their lives, their houses, their families.
