From the Booker Prize-winning author of The Remains of the Day and When We Were Orphans comes an unforgettable edge-of-your-seat mystery that is at once heartbreakingly tender and morally courageous about what it means to be human.

Who would have guessed that? When these cruel gods shuffled Earth like a deck of cards, nothing was in the same place anymore. Monsters, dungeons, and magical items appear scattered across the globe. And suddenly, everyone has access to a new, strange magical card system that gives them magical powers.

I enjoyed this!
Revisado: 08-03-22
Just like going back to highschool and playing mmorpgs again, except in book form and far less addicting, far less rewarding. Still a fun blast from the past. nothing special about this, but an entertaining tale, recommend if you've got time!

Historia
Twenty-five years after her passing, Audrey Hepburn remains the most beloved of all Hollywood stars, known as much for her role as UNICEF ambassador as for films like Roman Holiday and Breakfast at Tiffany's. Several biographies have chronicled her stardom, but none has covered her intense experiences through five years of Nazi occupation in the Netherlands. According to her son, Luca Dotti, "The war made my mother who she was."

I enjoyed the previous two novels. This one was terrible. I just wanted it to end. I didn't even care how. Skip this story, you're not missing a thing. Move onward to worthwhile stories

It begins with an ambushed commando raid that leaves all but one of the expatriate resistance fighters dead or captured. Though wounded, Jan Baalsrud, the sole survivor, takes off on a courageous, incredible trek into the wilds of the Lyngen Alps, while the Nazis pursue him relentlessly. He suffers frostbite, snowblindness, and a terrible fall in an avalanche. At last, delirious and near death, he chances on to a cabin, where the first in a series of remarkably brave and clever men and women come to his aid.

In 1967, 12 young men attempted to climb Alaska's Mount McKinley—known to the locals as Denali—one of the most popular and deadly mountaineering destinations in the world. Only five survived. Terrible narrator, great story
Revisado: 07-02-21
This is a great book. The narrator turns it into hell to listen to. He sounds like a normal person reading, except he has random pause breaks and words that sound like computer AI is reading in a sentence. This really makes you mad. Please READ this book. Not a good listen.
