Historia
The night I met Toren Greely was the night I learned how to lie. He was a Treasure State football coach. I was the star of the volleyball team. Coaches and students were forbidden. My future was on the line, so I told myself it was only one night. That was the first lie. They got easier to tell after that. The lines blurred. The boundaries shifted. Our relationship became a game of its own.

Historia
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

Such a fun book! Listened to this one as a reread and it’s perfect for that. While I don’t think the narrator is very good… like at all. I can appreciate it for the story it is & not deterring that from my rating! An easy book for new fantasy readers!

Holy hot 🥵 this book was so good yall.
It’s been a minuteeee since I’ve read mmf & I forgot just how good it is having all of those dynamics at play. There is something about the way that Alison writes that draws me in so easily. I can’t get enough! I flew through this one in preparation of the next in the series!
This one follows Willa, Damian, & Zander. Zander is the new hockey player in Seattle big leagues & Willa is his bff’s little sister. Damian and Zander have been seeing each other for a few years online but this is the first time they’re living in the same city. As you can see, this whole things goes steamy spicy sexy from there.
🎧The audiobook was so well done! It’s a rare treat to enjoy three amazing narrators in one book. Each main character had their own narrator & it brought the story to life. I felt the emotions run high through their storytelling. 5/5🎙️

"Ignorant boys killing each other," is just about all Nathan Coulter would tell his wife about the Battle of Okinawa in the spring of 1945. Life carried on for the community of Port William, Kentucky, as some boys returned from the war while the lives of others were mourned. In her seventies, Nathan's wife, Hannah, now has time to tell of the years since the war.

A bit… boring for me
Revisado: 11-28-24
Chosen for bookclub this was not a book that is in my genre of choice & definitely not one I would have chose on my own. So while I am rating this 2 stars, know that as a disclaimer.
Hannah coulter follows the life of, you guessed it, Hannah coulter. From her childhood into late adulthood, you follow her learn, love, and live. I feel like this was an exploration on how life changes & how your family comes & goes in waves of need.
I didn’t really like most parts of this. I felt like it was a memoir of an old woman (BUT WRITTEN BY A MAN!!!!) & it’s not even real. I would have liked it better if it was real, imo. I was incredibly bored & there really wasn’t a plot except telling about this woman’s *fictional* life. Call me a hopeless romantic, but I just really wanted more of the love stories in this.
I did love a few scenes though, especially the thoughts of membership and porch sitting in the evenings.
Overall, not for me. The audiobook however was very well done. I thought the narrator was perfect for the overall story of the book.

Historia
After Lucy is found wandering the streets, covered in her best friend Savvy’s blood, everyone thinks she is a murderer. Lucy and Savvy were the golden girls of their small Texas town: pretty, smart, and enviable. Lucy married a dream guy with a big ring and an even bigger new home. Savvy was the social butterfly loved by all, and if you believe the rumors, especially popular with the men in town. It’s been years since that horrible night, a night Lucy can’t remember anything about, and she has since moved to LA and started a new life.

Outstanding audiobook!!
Revisado: 11-28-24
Need a thriller that is both humorous & captivating! Here you go-this is it! I was sucked in from the very beginning & did not want to put this audiobook down. Oh, btw if you were wondering.. should I listen to this audiobook? Would it be better enjoyed in audio format? The answer is a RESOUNDING yes!! Duel narration with podcast sound effects & music make this a ✨must listen!!✨
We follow Lucy, who 5 years ago was accused of murdering her best friend—to this day she can’t remember what happened. When a true crime podcast decides to do a season on this cold case, Lucy is drug back to the past in an attempt to figure out.. did she do it?!
This was really such an addictive thriller. It was fast paced, with quippy dialogue & banter. The unreliable narrator was one I wanted to root for while also really loving the podcast that was possibly trying to out her at the same time. The small romance elements were an added bonus (since romance is usually my genre of choice!) & don’t get me started on possibly the best character — Beverly! We love a meddling grandma, & she’s one of the best I’ve read.
🎧 again.. I just have to shout out this audiobook! Narrated by January Lavoy & Will Damron (who I just found out are married irl!) were soo good. January narrated the perfect unreliable narrator who Will was the quintessential true crime podcast host! Phenomenal, outstanding👏🏼 truly a must listen!! 5/5🎙️

In the beginning, there was Savannah Shaw. Teasing me with a mischievous, merciless grin by day. Crawling through my window with tear-stained cheeks by night. I was ordered to avoid her. Lectured on her misdeeds. Forbidden from seeing her. But my need to protect her was innate. So natural I never questioned it. So visceral I couldn’t fight it.

Absolutely fantastic story.
The time jumps— starts in high school, has a brief stint when they’re 18, then the rest of the book they’re adults. Guys when I tell you I felt EVERY single emotion while reading this.
I was giddy. I was happy & then I was heartbroken. I was an emotional wreck, I was anxious. This book has it ALL. & really I don’t think you’ll be disappointed if you choose to read this one.
I listened to the audiobook, and this audiobook was phenomenal. 5/5🎙️. Y’all there are SONGS with guitar. It’s magical. Both narrators were so in tune with their characters. You could feel the emotion & chemistry through every single chapter. & the angst. So much angst. Omg.
Ok I think I could gab forever. I’ll probably make a tiktok where I do but I’ll stop here for now & leave you with the tropes & me screaming at you to JUST READ IT!!

A perfect thriller for new thriller readers
Revisado: 08-30-24
Thrillers aren’t usually my genre of choice and rarely get 5 stars so this getting 4 is actually me screaming its praises.
This kept me on my toes the entire time. I was intrigued, wanted to keep listening, and enjoyed the plot twists. I did guess the main one, but there were small pieces I didn’t.
The narration was fabulous. The narrator portrayed the FMC perfectly, imo. I feel like this had just enough plot in the beginning that wasn’t thriller-y that it made me enjoy it more if that makes sense.
I’m glad bookclub picked this one, bc otherwise I probably never would have read it.

I wanted to lose myself in the small town of Pelion, Maine. To forget everything I had left behind. The sound of rain. The blood. The coldness of a gun against my skin. For six months, each breath has been a reminder that I survived—and my dad didn't. I'm almost safe again. But the moment I meet Archer Hale, my entire world tilts on its axis . . . and never rights itself again. Until I trespass into his strange, silent, and isolated world, Archer communicates with no one. Yet in his whiskey-colored eyes, something intangible happens between us.

Revisado: 08-30-24
I’ve had this one on my TBR for so long & im so glad I finally got to it—thank you bookclub!!
This follows Bree who’s moved to a new town to runaway from her past. When she gets there she runs into Archer who is kind of a recluse & who doesn’t speak. She feels a pull towards him she can’t explain and continues to put herself in his path until he slowly lets his walls down.
Absolutely loved the sign language in this book. Archers back story and trauma was heartbreaking but I loved the way that Bree was able to pull him out of his past and find a way to make his life feel like it had purpose. While I found a few parts a bit unbelievable—I still really enjoyed this one.
The audiobook was ok! Not the greatest narration, but nothing completely negative either.

No Rating :: Memoir!
This one was picked for bookclub so I binged the audiobook the couple of days before. I probably never would have picked this without BC. I honestly hadn’t ever seen it around & it wasn’t on my radar. With that being said, I’m glad it was picked because I enjoyed it while also finding it thought provoking.
This follows Lara Love who finds herself addicted to drugs. She’s seemingly a normal suburban mom, but what’s happening behind closed doors alters the entire course of her life. After an arrest, she must work hard without much help to get her life back.
This was insightful. It was so compelling to read about the criminal justice system, jail, and recovery. Her story matters, & I’m glad it had a chance to be told. While I found some parts to be inspiring, I found others frustrating. Which is why I’m not rating this—who am I to find real true parts of her life frustrating. I’m no one.
However, she is writing a book about this, & books are bound to be critiqued. So here are a couple of mine. I really wanted her to acknowledge her privilege a little more. She touches on it *briefly* but let’s be honest, the majority of women incarcerated aren’t suburban white women… & I think her entire experience was different because of her class & race. Also, it frustrated me, infuriated me actually that she seemingly only cared about her youngest son when in all actuality all 4 of her sons would have been deeply affected by this. Where is their reconciliation with her?
I think this has merit & will definitely be a great conversation book for book club, I probably wouldn’t recommend it unless you are into memoirs & the topics in which this discusses. There were very heavy topics here & high triggers to anyone experiencing addiction.
I did really enjoy the narration. Narrated by the author, you got to really experience each moment in the book with her & I loved that.

Amazing fantastic!!!!!
Revisado: 08-30-24
Omg this was amazing. I couldn’t wait for this to come out & downloaded it immediately. B&B was one of my faves & I knew this would be just as good. I was not disappointed.
Lark & Lachlan while they started off enemies & hating each other turned into a deep love story. I truly loved so many parts of this book but the audiobook made it come to life. The duet narration was amazing with the banter, laughing, & groaning-it was almost like I was watching a movie (which btw this would make a great one!)
I just felt so many emotions for Lark & Lachlan. They both had to do work on themselves to be a partner for the other. Their slow descent into a relationship from a fake marriage is one of my favorite things to have listened to in a while. The drama was drama-ing just enough. Ugh I loved it all & dare I say more than B&B even! It was spicy but not overpowering!! 4/5🔥
The audio was fantastic!!! 5/5🎙️ without question. Duet narration couldn’t be better!! I loved the singing bits and all of their banter back and forth!!
