Cute story but terrible narration.
Revisado: 08-23-24
If they had steered clear of the southern accent attempts I would have given this a much higher rating. But it was so, so cringy. It was hard to enjoy the story. I wish you could hear both readers before committing to buy. All I heard was the woman’s regular voice. Which was fine. So I bought it. But as soon as she started doing the accented male voices…😬 So bad. Then the man started reading and he was even worse at it. His normal voice is also okay. But…ugh. Just…why?

Cute story
Revisado: 04-15-24
I have really been enjoying this series. Fun, clean rom-coms that had me laughing several times. My only complaint is the narrator they chose for Valentine. He’s a fantastic narrator In general, I just find it distracting when the reader sounds much older than the characters are supposed to be. The main characters are early 20’s, but I believe Rupert Degas is in his 50’s. So I can’t help but picture a 50 year old getting involved with a 20 year old. 🤷♀️

Historia
Very few in Aspen Lake expected that I, Calista Monroe, their most notorious wild child, would ever amount to anything besides being a model prisoner. So, imagine their surprise when I returned as the hospital’s newest ER doctor. Believe me, no one is more surprised than I am. I had vowed to never return, even if it was the last safe haven during the zombie apocalypse. But when my niece Quinn begged me to come home, I couldn’t say no. My plan is to stay out of trouble this time, and, above all, avoid Quinn’s uncle Tristan—the man I love to hate and the reason I left Aspen Lake.

Good Story, Terrible Male Reader
Revisado: 12-21-23
Kim Churchill did an amazing job narrating, Wayne Mitchell on the other hand… where do I even start. His speech was slurred, made the 15 year old sound like a 5 year old and our heroine…every time he attempted a voice for her it immediately conjured up images of a drag queen. I have nothing against drag queens. It just did not fit this particular story. His attempts at female voices were truly horrendous. And when he talked about her sexiness, he just sounded like a leering perv. I could not get past his terrible narrating skills. I wish they just stuck with Kim for the whole book.
Overall, it’s a great story about forgiveness, the realities of dealing with grief, setting boundaries, and people’s abilities to change for the better. Lots of strong female characters. And it was a clean, closed door romance.

She knows how to be a daughter and a wife and mother, but she has no idea how to be Eleanora. Revisado: 10-16-23
I feel like this story had a lot of potential, but it just fell short for me. I’ll admit that it was partially the reader. She made some of the dialogue between the main characters feel kind of robotic, for lack of a better word. But besides that, there were a lot of 6inconsistencies throughout the story, and it alternated between dragging out and being rushed. Also, I didn’t sense a whole lot of chemistry between the two characters.
I probably wouldn’t have even finished this one, but I paid full price for it, so I was determined to see it through to the end.

Once upon a time, Maggie Cooper lived for adventure. Jumping out of planes was child’s play. Now she can’t even work up the nerve to ask out her coworker. For a bit of self-therapy, she begins to text her recently deceased mother’s phone - the only problem is that the number has been reassigned and for weeks she’s been unknowingly texting a stranger her deepest thoughts and feelings. There have also been some not-so-deep texts, like the ones about her appreciation for her coworker’s butt.

Good, clean, swoony, romance. Loved it. Didn’t want to put it down. And Holly Warren is one of the few narrators that I like and who doesn’t ruin the story for me.

Amelia Rose, known as Rae Rose to her adoring fans, is burned-out from years of maintaining her “princess of pop” image. Inspired by her favorite Audrey Hepburn film, Roman Holiday, she drives off in the middle of the night for a break in Rome . . . Rome, Kentucky, that is. When Noah Walker finds Amelia on his front lawn in her broken-down car, he makes it clear he doesn’t have the time or patience for celebrity problems. He’s too busy running the pie shop his grandmother left him and reminding his nosy but lovable neighbors to mind their own damn business.

Not a fan of the narrators.
Revisado: 05-04-23
Cute story, though I was kind of taken aback with all the swearing. I don’t remember that being in her other books I’ve read. The thing I couldn’t get past was the narrators. Karissa Vacker was okay when she was doing the womens’ voices. But when she tried to do the guys voices…*cringe* And Andrew Eiden sounded too much The Fonz from Happy Days. I Just couldn’t get past that accent. 🤷♀️

Having worked for Southern Service Paws for a few years now, I like to think I’m prepared for just about any client meeting under the sun. I am dead wrong. The day I meet with single dad Jacob Broaden about potentially matching his daughter with one of our service dogs, I learn a few valuable lessons. 1) Always set my alarm clock. 2) Single dads are way hotter than I previously thought. 3) It is possible to go from fantasizing about kissing someone to wishing they would be run over by a truck in a matter of two minutes.

Perfect reader match
Revisado: 02-06-23
I mean, it’s a good book by itself, but this reader just perfected it. 😆 There was some predictability, but I was okay with it for the most part. Cute, clean (and by clean I mean steamy kisses but nothing explicit), romcom.
