Historia
With all of the pluck and charm of its eponymous young hero, Rachel McAdams (The Notebook, Spotlight, Midnight in Paris) delivers a spectacular reading of Montgomery's beloved bildungsroman. In moments both funny and bittersweet, McAdams' voice is imbued with the spark that has made Anne a much-loved symbol of individualism and cheer for over a century.

The narration needed some work
Revisado: 01-20-25
I enjoyed the story; although Anne's monologues became tedious at times. The narrator read smoothly and clearly, but she sounded like a a teacher reading to an elementary class. There wasn't much variation between characters' voices. This was a free rendition, though, so I recommend it if you don't want to pay for a different production.

Historia
When fifteen-year-old Eragon finds a polished blue stone in the forest, he thinks it is the lucky discovery of a poor farm boy. But when the stone brings a dragon hatchling, Eragon soon realizes he has stumbled upon a legacy nearly as old as the Empire itself. Overnight his simple life is shattered, and, gifted with only an ancient sword, a loyal dragon, and sage advice from an old storyteller, Eragon is soon swept into a dangerous tapestry of magic, glory, and power. Now his choices could save—or destroy—the Empire.

Good story for a long commute
Revisado: 01-24-24
Overall. it's not a bad performance, but the voice for the dragon is harsh and unpleasant. Also, Eragon sounds like an astonished school boy through the whole thing.
The story is entertaining, but it drags in places, and the speed with which Eragon learns the old language and how to read are completely beyond belief.

Funny and educational
Revisado: 12-10-22
Scottish history mixed with booze, good-natured ribbing, and shameless promotion of the actors' works. If you've watched "Outlander" or "Men in Kilts," you will probably find the book more entertaining than if you just picked it up for a bit of history. The narrators are excellent.

Historia
Traumatized by the bombing of Dresden at the time he had been imprisoned, Pilgrim drifts through all events and history, sometimes deeply implicated, sometimes a witness. He is surrounded by Vonnegut's usual large cast of continuing characters (notably here the hack science fiction writer Kilgore Trout and the alien Tralfamadorians, who oversee his life and remind him constantly that there is no causation, no order, no motive to existence).

painful to listen to
Revisado: 09-20-21
I have read excerpts from the book and loved the writing style, so I was happy to download the book with the author narrating. I should have listened to a sample. Angelou reads painfully slowly, pauses at awkward spots, and drops her voice at times, so you can't understand the words. I'm going to finish the story in print.

pedantic
Revisado: 05-19-21
The narrator's voice was the same for each male character and for each older woman character. There were times when it was difficult to tell when the main character was thinking and when she was speaking.
Overall, the first half of the novel was irritatingly slow and repetitive, while the second have made leaps in logic--or illogic- and actions that I would not an educated, well-bred young woman to do.
I finished the book because it wasn't horrible and because it was a free download which I played on my long commute.
