Historia
A soldier, former member of Congress, and a presidential candidate, Tulsi loves her country: "I answered the call of duty and took an oath, dedicating my life to supporting and defending those freedoms, both in uniform and in public office. I became a Democrat when I ran for office because I saw them as a party that stood up for the little guy and against the interests of big business and warmongers. I remained a Democrat for twenty years, albeit with an independent streak." Today that party is unrecognizable.

Convincing
Revisado: 12-08-24
I listened to this book with my husband and we resonate with so much of what you, Tulsi, express as important to you and important to the American people. We are heartened to know that you are being included as a valuable contributor to the next four years of the trimmed down, efficient and authentic United States governed-ment, for the people. My husband is a retired serviceman and we appreciate your perspective on the defense and protection of our country. We believe that we are in good hands with your every action taken to uphold the constitution for individual freedoms and constitutional and civil rights. It was a nice touch for you to keep referring back to portions of the declaration of independence and emphasizing them. As well as your emphasis on quotes from Martin Luther King and other Patriots. One suggestion we have, since it is clear, to us that you have a strong understanding of our government as a democratic republic, that you remove and replace the word “democracy.” We heard you use the word, “democracy” 10 times in your prologue and countless times throughout the book. It’s not until the epilogue that we hear you use the words democratic Republic. We suggest that you strengthen your position by removing the word democracy, which means mob rule, and replace it with the appropriate expression of democratic republic, such as…democratic government, our republic, democratic republic or democratic approach.

Historia
When President Theodore Roosevelt welcomed the country’s most visible Black man, Booker T. Washington, into his circle of counselors in 1901, the two confronted a shocking and violent wave of racist outrage. In the previous decade, Jim Crow laws had legalized discrimination in the South, eroding social and economic gains for former slaves. Lynching was on the rise, and Black Americans faced new barriers to voting. Slavery had been abolished, but if newly freed citizens were condemned to lives as share croppers, how much improvement would their lives really see?

A deep look
Revisado: 11-03-24
I appreciated the research that went into this presentation. The author had to do some patchy voiceover additions and they were distracting. It would be easier to listen to if the audiobook was redone and read by someone who could have the voice inflection necessary, not to distract from the content.

Historia
In a world where social media, online relationships, and relentless self-absorption threaten the very idea of deep and lasting friendships, the search for true friends is more important than ever. In this short book, famous Roman politician and philosopher Cicero offers a compelling guide to finding, keeping, and appreciating friends. With wit and wisdom, Cicero teaches not only how to build friendships but also why they must be a key part of our lives. For, as Cicero says, life without friends is not worth living.

At first, she struggles to find a place in this new existence. Historia
In 1993 Greg Mortenson was the exhausted survivor of a failed attempt to ascend K2, an American climbing bum wandering emaciated and lost through Pakistan's Karakoram Himalaya. After he was taken in and nursed back to health by the people of an impoverished Pakistani village, Mortenson promised to return one day and build them a school. From that rash, earnest promise grew one of the most incredible humanitarian campaigns of our time: Greg Mortenson's one-man mission to counteract extremism by building schools, especially for girls, throughout the breeding ground of the Taliban.

Extremely Relevant to Many Women’s Experience
Revisado: 04-22-23
I appreciate the author’s unique approach to addressing the generational experiences of women navigating a male dominated society where placating the male is required for survival and acceptance. The author effectively produces in the reader a sense of indignation for the treatment of women throughout the centuries which gives voice to the need many women have had to live without a man in their lives.
