Historia
At birth, Violet and Rose Flowers were identical, save for a tiny bluish-purple mark gracing Violet’s slender neck. By nineteen, their temperaments distinguish them, as different as the flowers their mother named them for—Violet, wild and outgoing, and Rose, solitary and reserved. Still, they are each other’s world. Then, on a sweltering, terrible August night in 1928, an explosion rocks Lamb’s Dance Hall in Possum Flats, Missouri, engulfing it in flames, leaving one twin among the dozens dead, and her sister’s life forever changed.

A Lackluster Narrative and Uninspired Characters
Revisado: 11-21-24
I found myself contemplating a return of this book after reaching the halfway point, as it lacked any discernible momentum. Unfortunately, Audible's return policy did not permit it. I pressed on, listening to the remainder at 1.5 times the speed in an effort to expedite the experience. Regrettably, the narrative felt tedious, and the characters were poorly developed; I struggled to form any emotional connection with them. Ultimately, I finished the book merely to put it behind me.

Observing the Unfolding Trainwreck - Great but also frustrating
Revisado: 02-28-24
“Watching" this unfolding trainwreck, whether through listening or reading, is undeniably challenging. The narrative follows the journey of remarkably naive women who seem oblivious to the impending disaster. This cautionary tale may serve as a compelling read for young women in their twenties or for that particular niece or cousin who persistently overlooks all the red flags in her new relationship before tying the knot.
Spoiler: Why don’t she read towards the end of the diary when she starts feeling something is not right!?

Excellent listen (especially the last part)
Revisado: 02-26-24
This captivating narrative weaves a tapestry of intricate plot twists in the last half of the book that kept me utterly spellbound. From the very first page, I found myself inexorably drawn into the gripping tale, unable to tear myself away. This literary gem is an absolute must-read for any avid reader seeking a riveting and immersive experience.

Historia
The summer in question started out with hot, fun-filled days and new friendships. We had just turned thirteen and had our whole lives ahead of us. But that was before her. Before we became known as the Hixton Five and our lives become defined by one night. It’s hard to believe twenty years have passed since she was locked away. But now she’s free and strange things have started to happen. When I close my eyes, the creeping anxiety and fear is overwhelming and all too real. Because the monster is back, and I know she has a score to settle with us.

Very good narration and storyline
Revisado: 02-25-24
If the portrayal of parents who neglect to observe, supervise, or address their children's stressed and emotional conduct in relation to the interactions with other adults and sleepovers is disconcerting to you, this book may be triggering.
The plausible scenarios and storylines kept my interest throughout, holding it steadfast until theend of the book.

She’s a mother. She’s a wife. She’s a fraud, a woman marked and bound by her own deceit. Experience the astounding tale of how Anonymous battled through a year of scandals and betrayals, how her world fell from its axis with a single choice, and how she lost herself between reality and fantasy. This is a stand-alone true story tangled in lust, heartbreak, and contrition.

Infidelity
Revisado: 11-15-23
While the book might offer insight into the motivations behind infidelity, it wasn't my preferred reading material.
One of the glaring issues I encountered while reading the book was the narrative structure, particularly in the beginning. The transition between the past and the present could have been more straightforward, making it challenging to follow the storyline.
I skipped significant portions of the book when the affair was introduced in a lacklustre way. I only focus on the beginning and end of the chapters. This approach allowed me to grasp a general idea of the storyline.
When it comes to incorporating affairs within an engaging and captivating narrative, I am open to their inclusion, provided they contribute to an exciting and thought-provoking storyline. However, in the case of this particular book, the focus primarily revolved around the self-centred actions of a single individual.
Note: Reading preferences are subjective, and what may not resonate with me might appeal to others.

What a waste of a book credit!!! Yawhn!!
Revisado: 01-28-22
I made it to chapter 6 (from the 28 chapters) with multiple *eye-rolls* and struggling to stay awake. The character development of the people in the storyline is weak and predictable.
I've managed to find excellent books in the die Plus Catalog and feel frustrated when I get a book like this with a book credit, and I'm unable to return it.

A VERY real look at being unemployed w/dependants
Revisado: 12-14-21
Liz managed to document a terrifying situation in an honest and sometimes funny account - being jobless as husband and wife with decent qualifications with three little boys. Her story was highly relatable, and "freezing" (doing nothing) is some people's mode of behaviour and a crisis, and it is not helping, but I can relate.
This book is even better to read while everything is going well in your career, NOT BECOMING COMPLACENT!
I thoroughly enjoyed it and would highly recommend it to anyone that wishes to be financially independent through some form of employment.

What an unexpected gem!
Revisado: 07-10-21
Fiction about complex relationships (on both families and friendships) with different points of views on the difficult situations are my absolute favourite types of books to read.
The character development, the storyline and storytelling was excellent!
I’m super excited to listen to more of Fiona Lowe’s books!
