Historia
Just yesterday, Ben was a petty criminal getting by on fleecing New York’s one-percenters. Today, he's got a new face, a new name, and a new world to navigate. And Ben’s thinking maybe this time around, he’ll use his skills at disarming and deceiving to help out people other than himself. Maybe. Watching a medieval City Guard fight off a 20-foot-tall ooze that crawled up from the sewers will make you think twice about life decisions.

I'm giving up on this author
Revisado: 09-06-24
BTW this is more of a review of the first four books in the series. it's a shame because he has created an outstanding world with pretty good characters but I just can't bring myself to continue on with the series. I will only mention a few of the shortcomings because if I were to write about all of them I would be here all day. my complaints are that there are too many inconsistencies, contradictions, and just flat out dumb decision making although he's not great at building up suspense either. one example is that he complains that he has to walk and wishes he had a carriage, but then someone offeres to sell him one and he turns the offer down, then later complains about needing transportation while having plenty of money and a stable at his house. he sells everything things he acquires no matter how amazing or beneficial it would be, claiming that if he got caught with those items then they would know who stole them, but he gets caught and questioned many times throughout this series but none ever searches him or anything of the sort. the last example that I'll give is that while sneaking through a building preparing to fight four magicians, he makes the unbelievablly dumb decision to just sit down in a hallway to read his character sheet and one if the enemies just walks up and stabbs him. and the worst part is that he doesn't learn from his mistake and does something very similar a few seens later.

Historia
When the cultivators came to Earth, they destroyed our entire civilization in a matter of hours. Armies fell, cities burned, and that was before the moon turned red and filled our world with monsters. Now, over a decade later, what's left of humanity slaves under the heels of our Qi-infused masters. The luckiest of us might even become one of them, they say—if we serve the Dynasty well enough and harness the power of Qi. But I want none of that. I'm sick of serving, and I want nothing to do with their world. Instead, I want them to pay for what they did to mine.

exceeded expensive
Revisado: 07-04-24
I'm a sucker for cultivation/RPG novels but I'm almost always disappointed. Actually I usually regret even purchasing the book in the first place. That's because usually the author's focus on creating a solid premise and world building but forget that the mystery and characters having a lot of depth are infinitly more important. I can't say wether or not this is a great overall book but I can say that the main character is so much fun to follow and it never comes close to being boring.

Mage Errant: Publisher's Pack contains books one and two of the Mage Errant series: Into the Labyrinth and Jewel of the Endless Erg. Hugh of Emblin is, so far as he's concerned, the worst student that the Academy at Skyhold has ever seen. He can barely cast any spells at all, and those he does cast tend to fail explosively.

conflicted
Revisado: 03-04-24
it's a shame that this author wrote these characters to be so young because it definitely undercuts a good premise and plot. here's an example of the relationship dynamics of some of the characters ( I think I like you but I'm worried that you don't like me. I think I like you too. what should we do about it? I don't know. I don't know either) it's that bad trust me

Historia
Cameron Winter was born with the ability to recreate detailed crime scenes in his imagination and dissect the motives and encounters that produced them. And after reading a puzzling news story about a wealthy family killed in a small town in the Chicago suburbs, he can't resist the chance to apply this deductive power in the pursuit of justice for the victims. Three members of the family, along with their live-in nanny, were pulled from their burning mansion, already dead from gunshot wounds. The only survivor is a young boy whose memory of the event raises more questions than answers.

As much as I liked this one I do have one complaint. I won't say too much about it because I don't want to spoil the book for anyone, just thought I would mention it in case Andrew reads these reviews and would like some honest criticism. So I'll just say that it has to do with the age of one of the characters being waaaayyyy too young to believe that they would do a certain thing and that they took an action against someone very close to them that I would consider preposterous unless it was an argument/accident. Still giving it five stars and still a big fan of all that your content

It also includes the bonus Hell for the Holidays, a 24/7 Demon Mart Christmas special. Lloyd Wallace is the most clueless crossing guard the intersection of hell and earth has ever seen. So clueless, that he doesn't even realize the beer cave in the corner store where he works is the gateway to hell.

Historia
My name is Killian Dunn. I'm eighteen, a high school senior, a gamer, and, oh yeah, the Harbinger of the Apocalypse. Not exactly what I had in mind as a career path. Reality took a nosedive when Armageddon came knocking. It brought with it classes, levels, and skills, as well as a horde of Lovecraftian abominations to use them on. I never wanted any of this, but the sick god who orchestrated this whole nightmare has my family. Their lives are forfeit if I refuse to play his game. The prize? A wish. With it, I can protect my family, fix everything that's broken, and save the world.

Couldn't finish
Revisado: 10-03-23
I don't usually write reviews or quit on books but this one is an exception. Also, I wouldn't write a review on a book that didn't have any potential because in that case I would just feel as though I shouldn't have bought the book in the first place.
Pros first: The premise was great, the characters were good, the plot was solid and felt like it was really going somewhere, and the scenarios were all good.
Cons: Humor was terrible although that's something that I'm willing to overlook if the story is good enough. The main problem with this book ( considering it's in the litrpg genre ) is that the author doesn't understand that if the characters are always more powerful than their situation then they're never really in any danger. Then there won't be any suspense as to weather or not they will fall into a harrowing situation that will require them to rise to a level of ( cleverness/ strength/ willpower/) needed to overcome seemingly impossible situations. Which for me is the draw of this type of story in the first place. After so many situations where they're never really challenged to any great extent it just became pointless and I couldn't make myself care anymore.

just blah
Revisado: 02-17-22
This might be the least ambitious book I've ever read or listened to . I can't say that it was bad although I can't say that it was good either. The entire story could have transpired in the first three or four chapters and then the author could have taken the characters in interesting directions afterwards. But instead he drug everything out to the point where nothing actually happened. The characters and premise weren't bad but it just didn't ever go anywhere. That's what I mean when I say this write was not ambitious, nothing actually happens in this book.
