Nooooo it ended way too soon! I want more
Revisado: 04-30-25
I love this author so much. She pulls you into her stories as if you’re a spectator to everything unfolding in the lives of her characters.
This story is another brilliant story with so much depth and heart. Great imagination, creativity, whimsy, and delight. But solid storytelling and strong characters. The story wrapped up nicely but I wanted more to the story. I didn’t want it to end. I feel like I just got to know the characters. But then again if she did write more it might of felt like it dragged on too long. Guess the author knows best. I would love to see a book 2…. Sadly I’ve listened to all her books so now I’m going to have to wait again for a new one to come out.
The voice actor does a fantastic job as well I don’t want to skip her. She also does a fine cat impression LOL.
Definitely highly recommend this wonderful story

Historia
"You will be called Anippe, daughter of the Nile. Do you like it?" Without waiting for a reply, she pulls me into her squishy, round tummy for a hug. I’m trying not to cry. Pharaoh's daughters don't cry. When we make our way down the tiled hall, I try to stop at ummi Kiya's chamber. I know her spirit has flown, yet I long for one more moment. Amenia pushes me past so I keep walking and don't look back. Like the waters of the Nile, I will flow.

Enjoyed the story learned something new too!

I enjoyed the story learned something
I had never picked up while reading the life of Moses. I had assumed it would be more about Moses but it is really about his “adopted” mom. Politics, Egyptian culture/ history, family dynamics, cultural differences, love, the impact of childhood trauma, all woven into a beautiful redemption story and the love of God the one true God. I recommend listening to it. I look forward to finding more books from this author. If you like the way the show The Chosen has brought to life the people who were around Jesus then you’ll like this book

Enjoyed the story but dragged on some
Revisado: 03-20-25
I love this author and have listened to almost all of them. This one was good but not as enjoyable as others. It dragged on in several areas. But was still fun trying to figure out who did the murder. I had it down to 2 people but could not figure out how. Lots of missing pieces but it all wrapped up nicely in the end.

Highs and lows but a well rounded story
Revisado: 03-13-25
It’s a good companion story to the first and I’ll get the 3rd. This one I felt dragged on too long. Maybe that’s just me but I felt there was a lot of slow parts and rushed parts.
Nice clean Christian themed romance which I appreciate!

Good story new author to me
Revisado: 02-18-25
I did enjoy this book and the authors writing style. There were no real dead/ boring parts. Lots of great details that pull you into the story. There are some hard to believe moments….But God can change the heart of anyone. It was odd at how main female character went along with things way too fast. Also that she fell for the main male character way tooo fast for not knowing him at all! She nearly gave herself to him within less than a day of meeting him? She did believe in him when no one else’s did…When there were so many red flags hitting her in the face LOL she just kept on loving this man who honestly was a totally stranger to her.
This is the first book I’ve listened to by this author. I was initially worried I had accidentally gotten a romance novel that had sex in it. Thankfully that was not the case.
I eventually decided to just sit back and enjoy the story. It doesn’t have to make sense…I did enjoy the ending. Of course one of my favorite narrator did a stellar job- which is how I found this author.

Revisado: 02-18-25
Jen did it again. I love the way she tells a story by brining you right into the world she has created. She gives great details but not so much that it bogs down the story. Lots of funny moments as well as a few intense ones. I appreciate clean romances that are not cheesy. This is definitely worth listening to. I just got the next in the series.

Oh man so glad I did not give up on this book
Revisado: 02-11-25
I didn’t think I’d get through this book. In facet I was upset that Audible kept recommending it to me over and over again. I couldn’t return it because I bought it during a sale. But I would have and I would have missed out on a slow and steady beautiful story of survival, friendship, perseverance, and ingenuity! I am no where near into science, engineering, math, or biology. I can totally see that being a big draw to folks that are, but I couldn’t care less about that stuff. Especially in the minute details this author throws out every few seconds of this story. I learned to listen but not try to understand it. After chapter 6/7 it picks up into the real story and finally I can settle in. I do appreciate the way the author jumps back and forth between before the mission interactions and during the mission. It helps him explain what’s going on or what’s happening without the main character having to explain random facts. I don’t think I’ll listen to any more of this author, but I did enjoy this book once I got the feel of it.
The narrator was fantastic and he sounds a bit like Tom Hanks so I imagined it was Tom out there in space. He could totally play this character…..

Surprisingly the magic/dragons were the most believable part
Revisado: 01-22-25
I want to say I didn’t hate it. It was an extremely empty headed, no content, 100% full carbs, and piles of sugar type book. Lots of funny moments. Great bits and pieces with the dragons and magic. But the rest fell flat…I love listening to steampunk & gaslamp books. But I also want them to have substance beyond the main female characters wanting to help everyone she comes across and the suitor being cold and stiff like the typical aristocratic man of that era. With some grubby street urchins thrown in. The dragons I totally could accept the whole “fantasy” part but the human relationships no sorry I could not. I wanted to but it got worse and worse. The dialogue and interactions were ridiculous. It was if the author had a great idea to create a story about dragons and these cool powers. Then she decided it had to be set in London. Oh darn it…now she had to add humans to the storyline and figure out a beginning, middle, ehh who needs a freaking ending I’ll just stop and start a new book!!! Ok yes, to those who have read it I know there was a goofy semi ending but not really…and no way can you call that a cliff hanger! It felt like I had only 1/2 the book and someone stole the other half. I don’t often say I wish the book was longer but man I wish it was longer. I wish the characters were better developed and had more time to get to know one another. I won’t ruin it for you if you decide to buy the book but man so many rushed moments. Typically you are given more details about certain tension building moments. The author doesn’t rush through a scene that’s been set up for drama with XYZ happening and it’s happened. Ok moving on to the next drama over and over and then nothing shut off audible it’s over! Or they are shoving me onto their next book. Nope….Narrator did a great job
