This narrator should not perform men's voices -- they sound angry or robotic. I'll be sure to avoid her in the future.

For a book about music I would have preferred the “sung” parts to be more recognizable. There were songs I had to look up to recall the tune. Was that intentional?

Melodramatic Narrator

What did you like best about A Criminal Defense? What did you like least?

The narrator made every sentence seem like the climax of the story -- melodramatic! Spoiled the listen for me -- very distracting.
The "who done it" was a BIG surprise! Loved it.

How could the performance have been better?

Different narrator. I may avoid Peter Berkrot altogether in the future.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Usually an author-read book is great -- not this time. Where was the director? Some one should have suggested she SLOW DOWN when reading a book about gratitude and the reverence of every day life. She didn't give the listener a chance to contemplate, or even fully hear, what she was saying.

Would you be willing to try another one of Shauna Niequist’s performances?

I may read a book by Shauna Niequest but I will not listen to another one.

As an avid listener and reader I can EASILY imagine the background sounds and do NOT appreciate the manufactured noise. Please, just read the book!

Would you try another book from Sarah Vowell and/or the narrators?

NEVER -- what producer thought it was a good idea to have this author narrate the book? Why are there so many voices (and weird music)? Will not bother finishing this book.

Would you try another book from Harlan Coben and/or Angela Dawe and Luke Daniels ?

I am BIG Harlan Coben fan but I will avoid Angela Dawe. . . every sentence sounds like a question or a demand. . . . enjoyable.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

better story, fewer twists and turns (too many coincidences makes it unbelievable).

What was most disappointing about James Patterson and David Ellis ’s story?

Was this really a Patterson story -- had to remind myself that this isn't Brad Metzler.

Have you listened to any of Kevin T. Collins’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Collins handled the principle character (Ben Casper) very well. He does a good job with the Russian characters. Sometimes in conversations, it becomes difficult to follow who is saying what.

Any additional comments?

This character (Ben) could easily lead to a series -- stories need to be stronger, less convoluted.
