For generations, record companies have dominated the music industry. These "record deals" were profoundly one-sided, and usually imposed brutal, predatory terms on artists. Fortunately, times have changed and artists no longer need labels. Ever retain a known entertainment attorney in the industry? I have, and I can tell you first hand, depending in what city you live in whether here in Vegas or LA, you can be looking at a min of $500-1500 just for starters, after just one free 30 min consultation if your lucky.
I have a deep respect and appreciation for any author/attorney who would go beyond the call of duty to present the minutia of the record industry while gazing into the current abyss that is constantly changing in real time even as I write this.
Taking on such a task makes my head spin. This author does so, with great depth and width in a detailed, easy to understand yet entertaining manner, and yes, in my view he is funny, and that's the greatest complement I can give anybody.
Truly, if you have any second thoughts about purchasing this book, be rational for a moment, it's like stealing. As an audible member for over 5 years or more, not one book can I say the same for.

This book has has been truly transformative for me. There are so many positives in understanding all the minute nuances the dark side uses. You will be able to spot it from afar as it moves towards you. Yes this book is 23+ hrs, but trust me, there is never a dull moment in any chapter. The narration of .Richard Poe is stunning and shows his talents with many languages.
Since purchasing this book, I have repeatedly listened to it from beginning to end, and will continue to do so, if only for the history. Only one thing I disagree with, the "jacobins" during the french revolution where not good guys. They were blood thirsty satanists who caused the blood to flow.

Even if your not in the arts or a creative type, this book is simple, straight forward and to the point with excellent daily working tips, that all direct you back to one thing: How to focus in getting your work done.
I'm a record producer/composer/arranger...and one of my favorite tips he gives is: if you want to start that new track (in my case) you have to erase the 8 bar intro that took me over 4hrs to create, before I start the next project, and if you do come back to it, you have to start from scratch all over again...wow! you think I will finish this project first? you bet!
Thank you John for your excellent work! Have listened to it several times already and will continue to do so just for all the reminders.
