Historia
Celebrating her forty-fifth birthday at her local pub, popular podcaster Alix Summer crosses paths with an unassuming woman called Josie Fair. Josie, it turns out, is also celebrating her forty-fifth birthday. They are, in fact, birthday twins. A few days later, Alix and Josie bump into each other again, this time outside Alix’s children’s school. Josie has been listening to Alix’s podcasts and thinks she might be an interesting subject for her series. She is, she tells Alix, on the cusp of great changes in her life.

Cheesy, excess swearing
Revisado: 02-22-24
This is definitely not a book for me. I found it to be degrading towards women. It’s pretty cheesy, full of stereotypical underdeveloped characters and a ridiculous amount of swearing. The narrators were great – given the characters they were portraying. The narration is pretty much the only reason why I didn’t stop listening

Meet Ove. He's a curmudgeon - the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. People call him "the bitter neighbor from hell". But behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness.

Revisado: 09-20-16
This book was great – very humorous, sad parts, very well read by the narrator. I just loved Ove and all the characters in this book. I usually read books with murder in it – it was a nice change to read this story about Life.

The Profiler's Daughter is a psychologically haunting thriller that combines murder mystery, love triangle, and family intrigue in one satisfying page burner. Sky Stone was born into the wealth and privilege of Boston's oldest Brahmin family but chooses instead to follow in the footsteps of her deceased father, legendary FBI profiler Monk Stone. In the chilly morning hours before the Boston Marathon, when a beautiful university student is found strangled and mutilated, her body left at the base of Heartbreak Hill, Sky returns from self-imposed exile to investigate.

Historia
Dr. Kay Scarpetta is working a suspicious death scene when an emergency alert sounds on her phone. A video link lands in her text messages and seems to be from her computer-genius niece, Lucy. But how can it be? It's clearly a surveillance film of Lucy taken almost 20 years ago. As Scarpetta watches she begins to learn frightening secrets about her niece. That film clip and others sent soon after raise dangerous legal implications that increasingly isolate Scarpetta and leave her confused, worried, and not knowing where to turn.

Excellent Nesbo!
Revisado: 03-04-13
What made the experience of listening to Headhunters the most enjoyable?
Narration is perfect for this story's perspective. Good plot, twists- liked the cocky & interestingly complex headhunter character. The only negative is the bit about the abortion. It was just unbelievable that a woman who wants children so badly would do that.
Which scene was your favorite?
The outhouse scene is the best...
Any additional comments?
I love Jo Nesbo's style and the narration really shines- just the right amount of a-hole for this character! Love it!!

A woman has vanished while digging a dinosaur bone bed in the remote wilderness of Canada. Somehow, the only evidence has made its way to the inbox of Chief Medical Examiner Kay Scarpetta, over 2,000 miles away, in Boston. She has no idea why. But as events unfold with alarming speed, Scarpetta begins to suspect that the paleontologist's disappearance is connected to a series of crimes - much closer to home: a gruesome murder, inexplicable tortures, and trace evidence from the last living creatures of the dinosaur age.

The first Iphone did not have VIDEO.
Revisado: 10-30-12
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes- it's a nicely paced listen, well read. If you like Cornwell's books- you'll like this one. I think I preferred Red Mist...but this one is good too...less personal to the characters. I really think the Cambridge location is the best by FAR.
What did you like best about this story?
I like the science and technical parts...such as Luke the Dental Pathologist. He is a great character. Also I love the Leatherback and descriptions of how marine biologists rescued him. I used to rescue manatees- so I can relate.
Which scene was your favorite?
The Leatherback rescue and body recovery scene with the helicopters...I felt like I was right there.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Listening took a few days...but I listened every chance I got :)
Any additional comments?
It was kind of a weird solve. I actually missed it and had to re-listen to the chapter again because all the sudden I didn't know what was going on. The end is tied up with a convenient bow...
One BIG message to Patricia Cornwell and her editors: The first Iphone did not have VIDEO. That was a big No No on Lucy's infallable computer skills...
Narration for Lucy's character made her sound a little manly and bored. Narration was wonderful otherwise.

And when his face is splashed over the newspapers, Frieda cannot ignore the coincidence: one of her patients has been having dreams in which he has a hunger for just such a child.

Couldn't stop listening
Revisado: 07-13-12
What did you love best about Blue Monday?
This book has so many layers...I can see how a series is developing and the characters are likeable and real. The good thing is although there are a lot of characters, there is enough development that I had no trouble remembering who was who.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Blue Monday?
I thought it was great how Joseph enters the story
What about Beth Chalmers’s performance did you like?
Chalmers does a great job- right amount of emotion, love the different voices and the accent. I hope she reads the next one too!

Great listen and learn
Revisado: 05-28-12
What did you love best about The Blackhouse?
I really liked the narrator. He captured the darkness of the story. The mystery/crime to be sOlved was not coMpletely unpredictable, but this book has some twists and turns. I really liked Fin, the main character and really liked learning about island life.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Maybe not the edge...in the way the dragon tattoo series does...but I could not stop listening! I actually did extra laundry just to listen longer.
What about Peter Forbes’s performance did you like?
Excellent narration- great accents, dark, captured female voices without sounding strange or whiny.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Scottish tale of murder on a remote island
Any additional comments?
I immediately bought the Lewis Man and can't wait for the third book.

Meh. First one was better- this one is just ok
Revisado: 05-07-12
Would you try another book from Alexander McCall Smith and/or Lisette Lecat?
Yes, I may try the next in the series
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
I thought the end was a bit bland. I love it when there's a bit of humor. This book had less humor
What about Lisette Lecat’s performance did you like?
She is GREAT. I usually prefer male narrators, but she is fantastic.
Could you see Tears of the Giraffe being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
Well- it is a tv series. I watched several episodes after listening to the first book. It was just ok for me.
