Historia
A gospel, as ancient and authentic as any of the gospels that the Christian bible contains, was buried deep in the Egyptian desert after an edict was sent out in the 4th century to have all copies of it destroyed. Fortunately, some rebel monks were wise enough to refuse - and thanks to their disobedience and spiritual bravery, we have several manuscripts of the only gospel that was written in the name of a woman: The Gospel of Mary Magdalene.

The Truth Will Set You Free
Revisado: 11-25-20
This book is a bridge. It is a perfect combination of research and personal experience making it both relatable and enlightening!
For anyone who has struggled with the status quo of religion or felt an innate sense of rebellion against doctrine that seems to greave your soul, this book feels like a breath of much needed fresh air.
For those spiritual seekers, the instances of resonance and the inevitable goosebumps will be your confirmation, your ‘knowing’.
A definite recommended read: another step forward in the collective evolution of humanity.

H, just walk away and leave her to it.
Revisado: 09-04-18
These women are completely irrational, obstinate, lacking in basic common sense and any sense of true self preservation . The men would be much better placed just walking away from them and in reality probably would.
I’m all for suspending reality for creative purposes but this series was painful.
Strong women are gratifying to experience but what’s depicted here is like the romance equivalent of slap stick comedy. This is not strength or character growth in any sense.
But perhaps that’s the point. If so, she nailed it. Strong feelings were evoked; annoyance, incredulity, frustration, disappointment shall I go on ? So on evocation; it’s a raving success.

Historia
Cade had pretended to be someone he wasn't. Worse, he'd used her in his elaborate attempt to catch a man he believed was a crook and a swindler. Though Cade's suspect had escaped, Cade was still around - raw, masculine, overwhelming. He had some unfinished business with the man who had conned his innocent sister, and he needed Jamie's help. But Jamie had some unfinished business, as well: to find out if the man she'd fallen in love with really existed.

Naive, obstinate, petulant, immature women masking it as ‘strength’ at the very risk of their own safety and life in some attempt at ‘self preservation’ seriously disappoint me. It’s possible to display inner strength without being impetuous.

As an orphan ward of the Sisterhood in the ancient Tarachand Empire, eighteen-year-old Kalinda is destined for nothing more than a life of seclusion and prayer. Plagued by fevers, she's an unlikely candidate for even a servant's position, let alone a courtesan or wife. Her sole dream is to continue living in peace in the Sisterhood's mountain temple. But a visit from the tyrant Rajah Tarek disrupts Kalinda's life. Within hours, she is ripped from the comfort of her home.

Angst, Angst and more Angst!
Revisado: 10-06-17
Can the H & H get a break?? At all...?
I listened to this, as the description insinuated the promise of a beautiful HEA, but at every single turn, something keeps the H & H apart. While epic battles and determination are admirable and inspirational, hope and promise are also key.
For those of you who read for a full HEA, this story might not be for you.
For those content to read/listen through a tumultuous, inadvertently nail-biting adventure, you'll probably enjoy this series.

What a female lead...
Revisado: 10-06-17
If you're looking for longer length of listen and somewhat exaggerated drama, then this book will work for you.
The story started off with a strong initial pull which was effective. However, the female lead descends from promisingly strong to almost insufferably whiny, obstinate and obtusely difficult which in turn made her weak. Ironically, her 'innate need' for self preservation was the very thing that continuously caused her to put herself -along with those bound to protect her- in harm's way.
I managed to get through the entire book, with effort, in the hope that somehow Raven would find her true inner strength and become the ally and partner to her hero, that she proclaimed herself to be.
No Spoilers, so I will not reveal whether or not my hope was realized. If you like a true damsel, completely reliant on her hero, while inadvertently hurling obstacles in their way throughout the story, then you will enjoy this book.
Note on Narrator - While her overall narration was very good, with accurate inflection and effectively dramatic pauses, I found her portrayal of Raven an unfortunate addition to my annoyance with her character, with a high pitched, whiny, breathy voice.
