Historia
We often think of Britain springing from nowhere with the arrival of the Romans. But in Ancestors, pre-eminent archaeologist, broadcaster and academic Professor Alice Roberts explores what we can learn about the very earliest Britons – from their burial sites. Although we have very little evidence of what life was like in prehistorical times, here their stories are told through the bones and funerary offerings left behind, preserved in the ground for thousands of years.

Historia
Although Scott Carey doesn’t look any different, he’s been steadily losing weight. There are a couple of other odd things, too. He weighs the same in his clothes and out of them, no matter how heavy they are. Scott doesn’t want to be poked and prodded. He mostly just wants someone else to know, and he trusts Doctor Bob Ellis. In the small town of Castle Rock, the setting of many of King’s most iconic stories, Scott is engaged in a low-grade - but escalating - battle with the lesbians next door whose dog regularly drops his business on Scott’s lawn. One of the women is friendly; the other, cold as ice.

Historia
The 10 enlightening (and often humorous) lectures of Medieval Myths and Mysteries will show you how far from the “dark” times of legend these centuries were. Uncover the facts about the Knights Templar. Reveal the truth behind the tales of legendary creatures like the Questing Beast and the unicorn. Trace the events of the Black Death and the ways it altered the world in its wake, and much more. With Professor Armstrong, you will dig deep into the ways that later generations reshaped the narrative of the medieval years and perpetuated the myths.

Almost worth it...and its free
Revisado: 04-13-21
Let me state, this is my 2nd lecture by D.Armstrong and although I enjoyed the first one, this one...not so much.
Armstrong is a little too obsessed by Game of Thrones and uses the last part of the lecture to compare and discuss it as a learning tool for the Middle ages. WTF?? Seriously? I find it shocking that a professor would use fictional and I repeat FICTIONAL story as a reference point. First off, not everyone watched Game of Thrones and 2nd, even if one did watch a TV SHOW, you would easily see it is pure fiction. I didn't listen to this lecture to hear her talk discuss her love of this show.
very disappointed.
I like facts and in the absence of facts, I'll take an educated opinion...not a crappy comparison or attempted comparison to a fictional TV show that the professor has blindly taken as seen by the entire world. Sorry, some of us prefer nonfiction...the truth is far more interesting

Historia
In the middle of the night, in a house on a quiet street in suburban Minneapolis, intruders silently murder Luke Ellis' parents and load him into a black SUV. The operation takes less than two minutes. Luke will wake up at The Institute, in a room that looks just like his own, except there's no window. And outside his door are other doors, behind which are other kids with special talents - telekinesis and telepathy - who got to this place the same way Luke did: Kalisha, Nick, George, Iris, and 10-year-old Avery Dixon.

Historia
The 25 years between the onset of the French Revolution in 1789 and the Bourbon Restoration after Napoleon in 1814 is an astonishing period in world history. This era shook the foundations of the old world and marked a permanent shift for politics, religion, and society - not just for France, but for all of Europe. An account of the events alone reads like something out of a thrilling novel.

Historia
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.

Highly Recommend! Excellent Apocalyptic Novel.
Revisado: 04-24-14
What did you love best about Cell?
I enjoyed it start to finish. This had become one of our favorite apocalyptic novels and only wish that it was longer. No matter the length of time between reads, I always enjoy returning.
What does Campbell Scott bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Campbell Scott is now one of my favorite readers. His voice, his delivery, it all meshes with the story in my mind. Although I am very much looking forward to the movie version....I secretly wished that Scott would get the lead role.
Who was the most memorable character of Cell and why?
I wouldn't say a character was the most memorable, it was the scenes of devastation and migration along with the visual journey that King takes you on. When I drive through Boston and up to Maine, This is the story I think of. Of course, when I get to Old Orchard Beach (OOB), I think of Frannie and The Stand...can't help it.
Any additional comments?
Read it!!
