Historia
Stella Hobhouse is a brilliant rider, stalwart friend, skilled sketch artist—and completely overlooked. Her outmodish gray hair makes her invisible to London society. Combined with her brother’s pious restrictions and her dwindling inheritance, Stella is on the verge of a lifetime marooned in Derbyshire as a spinster. Unless she does something drastic…like posing for a daring new style of portrait by the only man who’s ever really seen her.

Where Is Alex Wyndham when a story needs him?
Revisado: 12-13-24
I don't get the appeal of two narrators. For me, it is very distracting and jarring. So that being said... this story was not enhanced by the narrators. Both were good. But not quite as good as one narrator narrating the entire book. I was looking forward to Teddy's story and catching up on the Parish Orphans. And I know that I am whining, but Alex Wyndham has been narrating most of the Orphan series... so for me, the consistency of Alex Wyndham as narrator would have been the sound choice to tell Teddy's story. Mr Wyndham absolutely enhances the experience. I often re-listen to stories because for the most part the stories are more enjoyable the second time around. I will not be re-listening to any of the stories in this series.

2nd review, Great
Revisado: 06-28-23
Alex Wyndham takes a four star rating and soars it past 5 stars! This body of work while very good, gets better with his talent at the helm. He has nuanced performances in all his works, whether for Matthews, Riley, Graham, at al.
I am glad that Ms Matthews continues to use Mr Wyndham for her stories.

As is Expected
Revisado: 05-30-23
This is the 2nd installment of the Truly series. I thought the story delightful and witty. I was engaged from the beginning to the end. The main characters are well fleshed out and likable. Pippa Rathborne's narration is once again excellent. She makes the audio animation seem effortless. And I know this because after recording myself reading a paragraph of something which I wrote, which took many many many takes and it still was not acceptable. After my debacle, I have new found respect for the art of narration. It is not at all effortless or easy. And to make it seem so takes a very skilled craftsperson. Pippa Rathborne brings these character to life. She brings the art of nuanced performance to a higher degree. Brava!!!

Metzger and Rathborne pairing is worth listening!
Revisado: 01-12-23
So.... as with my previous reviews of/for this dynamic duo, this is a delightful listen. Barbara Metzger writes the story and Pippa Rathborne delivers the embodiment! Perfection! I am a fan so therefore I can be considered biased. But (with a my index finger pointing up) I am also discerning. An author can write a witty, funny, sad, compelling story that is really great! But, if the narrator has not the perspicacity to deliver the performance needed to breathe life into the author's story, then we have disappointed fans! I have yet to be disappointed by Ms Rathborne. Her intuitional renditions (can I put those two words together?) of the characters is on target and the story animates.

One of my many favorites
Revisado: 05-18-22
While authors craft stories, it is the job of the narrator to tell the stories. , And in telling this story Ms Rathborne excels once gain, twice again, thrice again and on and on. The paring of Metzger and Rathborne is magical. As I said in previous reviews Ms Rathborne understands and conveys nuances, that one may miss in a first read. Each character is well defined and identifiable in her performances. A job well done.

Revisado: 01-12-22
Once again Pippa Rathborne makes magic. One can always trust her to infuse her performance with nuances that you know the author intended. Her voice is unique , her characterizations are distinct (Buried Treasure, amazing!) I am a long long time fan of the late Edith Layton and love her style of writing. She wrote with a cadence that is rhythmic…..melodious. I miss her works. Thanks to her estate for reissuing her stories and I hope that Ms Rathborne continues this narration collaboration.

Once again Ms Metzger shines and Ms Rathborne entertains. This is a brilliant match of talent that delivers a noteworthy experience. Ms Rathborne has the perfect voice for Ms Metzger’s brand of storytelling. She (Rathborne) gives excellent pitch and nuance to the characters.
Whenever there is a new release of the pairing of Metzger and Rathborne, it is an automatic purchase for me.

Historia
Setting aside the pervasive material bias of science and lifting the obscuring fog of religious sectarianism reveals a surprisingly clear unity of science and religion. The explanations of transcendent phenomena given by saints, sages, and near-death experiencers are fully congruent with scientific discoveries in the fields of relativity, quantum physics, medicine, M-theory, neuroscience, and quantum biology. The Physics of God describes the intersections of science and religion.
