Frustrating
Revisado: 02-16-25
The actual storyline is good, but I would have liked more story line? Idk if it’s the slow burn writing style or what, but we are two books in and doing the exact same thing over and over. I like him.. no I can’t.. he’s the bad guy, everyone has mistreated me with an occasional sprinkle of actual story line. Like other reviews said the FMC is whiny and I don’t think it’s the narrator. She’s been reacting first thinking later since the first chapter of the first book and just when you think the character depth is growing she reverts right back and you know you have to start the whole process over again. Maybe it wouldn’t be so frustrating if there was more storyline progression through the love/hate whiplash, but your not really getting pieces of the puzzle to solve they are just bombs that drop since there isn’t much story background or discovery.

Cute
Revisado: 11-30-24
It’s a cute series. Would be a great fantasy starter for new readers in the genre or if you need a break from the heavier fantasy reads. I would have loved to see more world and character building though. I felt more transported in the world in book three though. As an avid fantasy reader the plot is pretty predictable, but a good read.

Historia
Having just barely survived the brutality of slavery and war, Arianna has finally revealed herself as The Divine but has yet to fully understand the heavy responsibilities of her new role. With their new mating bond still solidifying, Arianna and Rion arrive in Ruadhán, the royal city of Alastríona, so she can lay rightful claim to her throne. The city, however, is full of superstition about The Demon, and the pair is tested at every turn, especially by the male who is acting as regent . . . and was prophesied to be Arianna's true mate.

Super frustrating
Revisado: 11-10-24
I was really excited for the second book, but I feel like the entire plot was just lost. The MC’s are skeletons of their character of the first book. All of their character strength just went flying out the window. The constant whiplash of Arianna’s I’m not strong enough whining just made me want to quit reading, but I’m no quitter so I just got mad the longer I read. It may have not been so frustrating if the villainous plot wasn’t given away right at their arrival and the fact they just constantly let themselves be manipulated with no plan from the beginning, just constant wishing they never went. There wasn’t anything there to keep you on the edge.

Giving supernatural plot lines
Revisado: 05-15-24
The plot of the story is giving plucked from the supernatural storyline, especially with the mentions of the tv show. Trinity annoyed the living daylights out of me for about 90% of the book. You’d think after everything with Misha and the snarky comments made about the situation there would have been more self reflection or growth. And when there was opportunity for the storyline to progress it just stalled until the typical bad guy “I’m gonna tell you all my evil plans” spill. It would have been nice to see them put more piece’s of the puzzle together.

Good Storyline
Revisado: 05-05-24
It has a good storyline. A little predictable, but an enjoyable read. Some parts were a bit too rushed that could have been used to build characters where slow parts dragged out without building on anything.

Better story progression, rough narration
Revisado: 05-03-24
I don’t like to bash on narrators, but I have to agree with the other review’s, the male narrator was not it for this book. The out of place inhales made all of Bastians chapters feel like one big run on sentence that I would just start tuning out. That’s the best I can explain it. The story line moved along at a decent pace. A little predictable. I do like the characters though and am sticking around for their banter and sass.

Super slow paced
Revisado: 04-30-24
It’s well written. I enjoyed it for the most part, but the storyline is so slow to the point I was getting bored, but definitely a good read if you need a break from high anxiety giving storylines. There really isn’t much storyline movement asides from the characters romance until the last 5 hours of reading. The most frustrating part was how they made her into this strong smart female lead, but then stripped that whole personality away while at court. So much more could have been happening on her spying side, while their romantic relationship was building.

Kinda disappointed, but still a good ending
Revisado: 03-13-24
Cross overs make my heart happy, while it was cool. It was also kinda dull at the same time, for the amount of action in each series. I’m happy the characters got their happy ending, but also feel like there is a few threads that didn’t get wrapped up. The viper queen. Ketos marriage and bringing in the wife’s lover at the very end. The reapers. There are just odd power players still hanging out there.

The further you read the more frustrating it gets
Revisado: 02-01-24
By book four I expected character development. Violet is constantly a doormat for everyone around her including her own children. The only person she has found the ability to stand up to is cooper. Her constant insecurities and Tiffany obsession just makes me cringe the longer it drags out. Her inner dialogue drags out to a frustrating annoyingly point and yet refuses to believe or admit to the things she experiencing. She throws her hands up with cooper not believing her when she won’t even believe in herself half the time. And every time there should be actual progression on the mystery side or character growth it just cuts to a sex scene and … poof there is no more tension or issues to work out.

More a romance than a mystery
Revisado: 01-27-24
I've continued this far because I like Harveys character. The mystery isnt much of a mystery when I have it pieced together before she even starts investigating. It's all very cliche. Violet is just frustrating. I didn't think it was possible to keep dragging out the secret of her and doc and lying to Natalie. There could have been way more character development on that end.
