Historia
Gabrielle and Ben Blair have been raising kids for over two decades. Through the years, they’ve charted their own unconventional path: working from home before remote work was a thing; uprooting their kids four, five, six times–including a move to France where they enrolled in local schools without knowing the language. It’s been a unique parenting journey characterized by experimentation, trial and error, decisions prompted by financial or psychological necessity, varying levels of anxiety and tension, despair, and hope.

Historia
In A Coat of Yellow Paint, Naomi shares new stories, time-stamped as intimate and vulnerable essays, exploring her faith, personal heartaches, challenges balancing a home life with career, motherhood, and her struggles with infertility. Along the way, Naomi illustrates the urgency of celebrating life’s most important things - family, faith, friendship, and an upright piano painted bright yellow - ignoring the critics.

better than I even imagined:)

Wow. What a an amazing memoir! Having been a long time reader of Naomi’s blog, I never thought there would be such a wealth of totally new-to-me writings. I love the lessons she shares and the very relatable tone is so refreshing. Naomi is very raw and real in a way that gives women permission to listen to themselves and honor their own experiences. The only down side is that I now feel super compelled to move to NYC- her beautifully detailed description really brings the experience of that city to life!

Historia
From the best-selling author and former Starbucks CEO, here is a story that is part dramatic memoir, part blueprint of the new responsibilities that leaders and citizens share in America today. The book weaves two parallel narratives to show how experiences from Howard Schultz’s troubled childhood - some of which he has never before disclosed - propelled him out of the housing projects and fueled his efforts to build a global brand and redefine the role of a company in society. Ultimately, Schultz reveals the potential we all have to transform communities and uplift lives.

Uplifting Listen
Revisado: 02-02-19
As I listened to this book, Mr. Schultz made the rounds on TV answering questions about a potential 2020 run. The deeper I got into his story, the more compelling I found him to be. In the book, the stories clearly portray a hardworking man of integrity who is also open and reflective about his own mistakes. Mr Schultz comes across as genuinely trying to do the right thing and to be open to outside perspectives and input in forming plans and policies. I appreciated hearing the life journey of someone who came from the projects and genuinely cares about the disadvantaged in our society and has put both his money and time into lifting others as well as shining a spotlight on others who are solving problems in thoughtful innovative ways. As a fellow American blessed with so many opportunities in this country, I find myself pushed to contribute more to my community after hearing this story. As a mother of four little girls, I so wish we had someone like Mr. Schultz leading the country that they are growing up in and making decisions that will form the world they inherit from our generation.
