This was nothing like the last two great books
Revisado: 04-24-25
The plot was entirely shifted, I was enjoying her entire thing of alchemy and that life with just a sprinkle her trying to fix her situation outside the Virtual world. Getting back at the people who uses others and her finding out her lawyer was working with her still alive mom. Who in the previous book revealed that she was no longer going to be a prisoner and since her child was harmed. She will act with full fury against all of those guys who created the situation.
What we got was nothing from the mom but 1 or 2 moments of seeing her in action. A Cadia who just gave in to her situation, when I figured she would create a 3rd option. By not just giving up her body, but regaining her consciousness and her attacker being caught on the 2nd attempt. (Which the last book made it seem like Cadia's body was move to somewhere only her mother could have worked on her. Not like 4 doctors and her mother removed from the previous books set up.)
This book had seemingly abandoned the entire world we were getting used to, it was good to do both digital and reality flopping as the story needed. But to make a entire book and not include it in it at all leaves me wondering if I will give the next book a chance. Since it ripped the fantasy portion out of a entire book and left it more like a ai sci fi thing instead.

A Disappointing Followup
Revisado: 03-29-24
This story is by no means, bad. I would start with that disclaimer. In fact, throughout most of the story it manages to be quite engaging.
However... The greater foe in the form of The Silent Order, which loomed throughout the previous story and reared its head in this one, is what sets the story apart from the typical Sherlock Holmes affair.
These are not a series of disconnected stories, no. Everything here is connected. And that is also the story's greatest shortcoming. What follows is a major spoiler for this story, so be warned.
All of those stakes, all of those powerful moments are undercut with the death of Irene, who served as Moriarty's sole motivation and goal since the start.
With the loss of this particular storyline, it is difficult to see the point in it all. Should I be invested simply in seeing Moriarty... Survive? No, I think that is less than sufficient. Unless some other equally engaging storyline is employed soon, I'm not sure a third story will be worth listening to.

How contradictory Dresden is feared vs how easily he keeps getting beaten up / neatly killed.
Revisado: 03-24-24
I have a hard time excepting how limited Dresden's powers and versitle skills are. They talk like he is really strong and is a danger, but most of the story he is laid out by a baseball bat, caught naked and unable to fight or just punched alot and got a surprise hair cut. Where is any kind of daily protective layers of magic that should reflect or guard against normal non magic attacks?
How about a reflective spell that changes the spell target back onto the user. Making a death spell only kill it's caster? Also how come no body justs sits down and talks out everything they plan to say to eachother. Example he should be able to explain around his magic situation with the White Council and thier nearly confirmed execution orders. So the police know that there are certain things he just can't talk aboit or every try to replicate because he would get himself killed by his Mage Associates.

Truly turns the premise on its' head
Revisado: 03-06-24
not too long or too short, this tale incorporates all the major elements you expect from Sherlock's mythos, in interesting ways, and even includes some you might not quite expect. As always, Phil is just great as well. Hearing Mary and Pippin back together is nice too.

Historia
Imagine your least favorite class from school. The one you hate showing up to because you can’t stand the teacher - and maybe the feeling is mutual, even though they can’t admit it. You hate the subject, and you’re miserable the entire period, every day, every second. None of your friends are there, and even if they are, you can’t hang with them. You just sit and do your work. No talking. No bathroom breaks. Now, imagine that the class has several aggressively strict teachers, and those teachers have superpowers. In fact, they’re the most powerful people on the planet.

The Bad
Revisado: 02-23-24
The need to stop with teen drama, espicially Osprey going on and on in her life. The story should be about them all being superheroes and coming together to thwart evil. Not hearing about a college girls love life as she sits around talking about how long it has been between text messages from a ex.
They ruined Alex's story also since the first book, he is basically nightwing in bpok 1. Then they change all of his skills and intuition as someone who was a sidekick to hero of The Black Herrier, yet make him so desperate to get aproval from the guild that all he does is argue with his girlfriend Osprey, and bow to whatever he is asked to do. When he knows something is wrong with The Guild, but he hust aids them and does nothing to help anyone
So stop with Osprey life drama. It was so bad that it destroyed thier team.

Great story
Revisado: 02-16-24
Love everything in this one except the facts that. 1.) The scream noices or someone supposedly yelling etc... is said more than enacted as a believable yell, screaming etc...
2.) I thought they were going to make her (lesser dragon) into a aid, wierd that they didn't try to do this with her to see if he could make the healing work better in her afterwards. Since everyone is stronger afterwards.
3.) Confused how his former teacher is treated like she quit the school. Originally Asterios invited her over summer break to work in his new castle basement. Then this gets dropped afterwards, with this book mentioning school started already and nothing said about her absence from the school beyond thier summer break.

Really Good but felt Misled...
Revisado: 01-19-24
Really good all the way around, Except the fact that I bought the book based off the audio sample, and the sample is the beginning of the literal ending to the book! So the whole time I thought we would see part way through the book him making videos and having competitions etc...
Instead the whole book is literally all about his love life / sex life and just getting the permits to even build the place. Loved everything in the story anyway, but I do feel mislead as to what I was getting to listen to in the book. Never had the sample audio be the bit at the end of a book before. Usually people use the sample to show off the beginning chapter or close to that! Not make me question if the sample I heard that got me interested in the book was even in the book at all!
