While I thought this book was good and had a lot of good things to say, I wouldn't say it was amazing. I think this book really is meant more to start a discussion than to be read on its own.

BJ Harrison delivers another amazing performance of a classic. I love Verne's works, but BJ Harrison makes them even better.

I just realized that I never gave this book a proper review. Well, it's about time.

I read this book at a point in my life I was discouraged. I got this on audio because I was curious about Hannah More and the cover was so pretty. I went in knowing very little about Hannah. I came out feeling like we could have been friends.

Prior is an excellent historian. She not only wrote a book about More, but also explained why some things about her life are unknown, despite her research. I like that she never made guesses and wrote them down as facts. The closest she came to that is offering two or three possible explanations for an action and then was honest that we don't really know.

There were a couple of dry moments, but overall, this book kept me reading. I mean, I read it in only two days. The narrator did an excellent job and the author is a skillful writer.

One of the things I appreciated most about this book is the light it cast on William Wilberforce and his work. He was an incredible man, but too often, people make it sound like he pretty much pushed through all the changes on his own. I think this book clearly showed that it took many people working together to change the hearts of a nation before sweeping reforms could be made.

Mostly, I came away from this book inspired by the life of Hannah More. She was a single woman who loved God, had fierce convictions, and used her skill to help shape a better future. She was an extraordinary individual whom I think makes a great role model, especially for single ladies.

I highly recommend this book for those who like history, are interested in William Wilberforce, and single ladies looking for a role model.

This was a very sweet story for the young and young at heart. A little bit mystery and a totally sweet, nostalgic Christmas story.

Morris always has clean, sweet stories that are safe for the whole family. This was very short and sweet, but not my favorite of hers. While a great idea, there wasn't really enough time to do this kind of story justice.

This is a sweet story about adoption, Christmas, and find out our hope and worth in Christ. It's about two siblings as they get a new family and learn about God for themselves. As always, Morris writes sweet, old fashioned type stories.

Howard's skill with a pen is again on display. She always has vivid characters and realistic situations. Perhaps it was my mood, but I found the whole tone of this book to be sad and depressing. It did keep my interest, I wanted to know how things would work out for the characters. I also found the ending redeeming and good. The narrator was skillful and did a good job.

Overall, I would say if you're in the mood for a more serious, realistic story with a good ending, this would be a great choice.

Age Appropriate For: 18 and up. This story is about two different people dealing with the aftermath of a pregnancy out of wedlock and raising those children.
Best for Ages: 18 and up

I have to start by saying that the narrator for this book, Hannah Cabell, added so much to the enjoyment of this story. Her narration was so good, I would give her five stars almost on her own. I would love to listen to more read by her.

Courtney Walsh is a solid author. I don’t always love her books, but I have yet to read one that I hated. She has a skill, writes realistic stories, and her faith shines through. This book has been my favorite by her so far. As both a reader and an author, I was amazed at how she mixed three different threads of the story (Emily’s, her mother’s, and the letters from her mother to her) so well. It wasn’t simply switching back and forth, it was pieced together like a patchwork quilt, a very well done, beautiful quilt. This book shows some serious skills.

Now, the story was full of flawed people struggling, trying to do what is right, and failing sometimes. Hollis has a daughter from a one-night stand and Emily’s own mother hadn’t been married. We get to discover more about her mother’s story as the book progresses. Honestly, I felt Walsh did a fantastic job covering a very sticky issue. She didn’t sugarcoat it. People made big mistakes and life is messy.

The faith element in this one I felt was handled well. It felt very natural and I like how it influenced the characters in the end. There were a couple of points I wish it had been a little more a part of the conversation, but again, it fits the characters so well it was hard to complain.

Speaking of the characters, I just adored all of them. They felt real, lifelike, and I loved each of them. Emily was my favorite.

I could go on about this story, but I think I will leave it at that and say that I highly recommend this book for adults who like realistic situations, unique storytelling, and lovable characters.

Well, it was just not very well done. Some interesting facts and some great elements, but it felt very disjointed.
