Disaster. There was no other word to describe how Operation Olympic had changed in a flash from a triumph to the worst failure the Merry Band of Pirates had ever experienced. A failure that meant the fight was over. Unless the Pirates could perform a miracle, without Skippy.

Hard to believe it was 19hours short.
Revisado: 05-09-25
This story is so phenomenal that I struggle to believe that 19 hours would have so little impact on how much more of this story I want to know. Well worth the wait.

Historia
Many years and even more levels have passed since Jake and friends entered Nevermore. With quite a number of floors passed, they turn their attention to the Challenge Dungeons. These Challenge Dungeons offer – as the name suggests – unique challenges and circumstances, and completing them will earn each Nevermore competitor points and multipliers to their existing points. As things unfold, it quickly becomes clear it’s through these dungeons that the true top-scorer of the Nevermore Leaderboards will be found.

Interesting and relevant
Revisado: 05-07-25
The story has depth and breadth of character and detail. The author does an excellent job of tracking multiple stories and characters and keeping up with checking in on each of them, he does get a little lost in the weeds on occasions but overall very good work. Looking forward to the 12th installment. Room for improvement exists in the often very dry and overly prolonged periods of grinding and non-integral characters.

Interesting storyline, mediocre narration.
Revisado: 04-13-25
I’m a big fan of lengthy LitRpG’s, that said this storyline has an interesting theme, characters, and fantasy universe. It loses some points for stressing tedious stat retelling and not really developing characters and their vast interactions.
The narration is near god awful, frequently mispronouncing common words, stumbling through simple sentences, and being so monotone that you frequently find you stopped listening some time ago and don’t care enough to go back and be forced to listen to it again.
I’m hopeful that the series continues and the author spends some time devolving the story instead of just plodding through it. I also hope it gets a new narrator as Prachko is nearing my limit of not desiring to continue the story.

A secret buried in the Antarctic. A puzzle unsolved for thousands of years. And a Brooklyn-born master gunnery sergeant who's royally pissed that he has to babysit the researchers sent to figure it all out. But when Patrick "Wic" Finnegan finally sees what the team has uncovered, he can't believe his eyes, nor is he prepared for the violence to come. Soon, the portal opens and unleashes a storm of unbridled fury upon humanity.

This is an interesting quandary.
Revisado: 03-08-25
This series attempts to weave together themes borrowed from more successful books and falls flat in its attempt at imitation with clumsy execution and disjointed storytelling. The plot is recycled and patchwork at best, and completely misses the mark of the classics it imitates. The characters and plots are blatantly borrowed with minimal attempt to remake or personalize. This confusing and tiresome attempt is best avoided if you can just reread/listen to the originals.

Timeless Epic.
Revisado: 12-27-24
Towards the end of Robert Jordan’s writing he felt rushed and anxious, but then Brandon Sanderson. The culmination of Mr. Jordan’s life’s work is incredible. The twisting narrative and spinning characters are heart wrenching and hope renewing. The story of the 3rd age was such a pleasure. Thank you for this gift.

Truly Prolific
Revisado: 10-15-24
This book is so good you will find yourself re-listening to chapters just to try and fully understand all the connections and implications. The recording is not as well done as others as there are sections where you hear it requesting to switch the tape but the depth of story make it acceptable.

One of the Best Stories ever told.
Revisado: 08-22-24
The world created by Mr. Jordan is one of the greatest stories ever written. I remember as a teen I couldn’t read the books fast enough and listening to it know all the images and experiences flood back. Such a tremendous telling, I hope the failure of AP to capture it never tarnishes the written work.

The Best Series ever written.
Revisado: 08-12-24
Some of the middle books could be re-written with this end in mind, that said this is the best series I have ever listened to. The betrayals, the enemies, the friendships, the love, the gain and all the losses. Over the last two years these books have gotten me through some difficult and amazing times. Thank you to the author, publisher, and audible for it all. This series will be forever on my playlist. I hope they don’t make a crappy movie out of it.

Cutting down on loose ends.
Revisado: 08-02-24
This I a pretty good installment that ties up several loose ends. The story has really progressed and the last big question is, how will Jason rule on the restored throne? Popits’ story poses an interesting option for a sequel or off-ramp.
