boring
Revisado: 07-04-24
I tried listening to it in hopes there was magic, a good storyline? something? they discuss food, wine and yoga a lot! boring! she's so arrogant and yet stupid at the same time I can't listen anymore. 1/2 way through and deleting it. such a waste of my money. I find myself shouting MOVE ON and Ugh more times than anyone should. so disappointed.

Now she has a new home and an exciting new job as one of only two female police constables in the whole city. But Hull still feels like a foreign country, and some people are less than impressed by the idea of a woman doing a "man's job". But determined to do her bit for the war effort, Billie throws herself into her work. The chance to prove her worth comes during a search for a missing air raid shelter inspector, when Billie makes a shocking discovery.

Historia
England, 1920. Lady Eleanor Swift, adventurer extraordinaire and reluctant amateur detective, is taking a break from sleuthing. She’s got much bigger problems: Eleanor has two left feet, nothing to wear and she’s expected at the masked ball at the local manor. Her new beau Lance Langham is the host, so she needs to dazzle. Surrounded by partygoers with painted faces, pirates, priests and enough feathers to drown an ostrich, Eleanor searches for a familiar face. As she follows a familiar pair of long legs up a grand staircase, she’s sure she’s on Lance’s trail.

if you want a laugh listen to this. if you like weak make characters listen to this. the romantic parts were hilarious. overall a weak premise for arresting lancelot (stupid name) and no real reasonable excuse as to why. kept waiting for it to get better... Not... the reader was excellent.

I'm sorry I can't listen to her...
Revisado: 01-17-23
I should have listened to her before I bought this book. I can't follow her... her inflections are off and the lilt in her voice is off-putting. he us amazing. She sometimes reads like she's teaching a child to read. she's ruined the book for me.

I don't know
Revisado: 10-30-22
I've been trying to like the main characters, but they always wind up irritating me. I mean Vai and Tavin. (sp)?. is this really how the author thinks relationships should be? Vai is all over the place one minute she adores and loves him, but she keeps secrets from him and he keeps secrets from her but they say they trust each other??? whacky. then there are hard set rules but she can change them??? ugh... now I'm invested in it so I have to see it through...but dang it's confusing and painful

unique tale, and some things actually surprised me which was great. I was, however, distracted by some of the male voices. Some sounded too mechanical or clipped almost robotic and there were no robots. lol. Very good read/listen.

Historia
Undeterred by world war and enemy submarines, Amelia and Emerson set sail once again for Egypt, where ghosts of an ancient past and spectres of a present-day evil hover silently over an inscrutable land. In the autumn of 1915 Cairo is transformed into an army camp teeming with enemy agents and shockingly bold tomb robbers are brazenly desecrating the ancient sites. Amelia seeks refuge at a remote dig in Luxor, but this provides no guarantee of safety when she discovers a fresh corpse in an ancient tomb.

Historia
Seventeen-year-old spirit medium Emily Chambers has a problem. Actually, she has several. As if seeing dead people isn't a big enough social disadvantage, she also has to contend with an escaped demon and a handsome ghost with a secret past. And then there's the question of her parentage. Being born an entire year after her father's death (yes, a year) and without the pale skin of other respectable English ladies, Emily is as much a mystery as the dead boy assigned to her.

an imaginative story
Revisado: 04-14-22
I like books where the story line isn't obvious, where I can't guess what's going to happen next or where theres several different outcomes. This story did that. I rated the performance so low because I found myself critiquing the narration instead of following the story. I just barely could stand Jacob's voice. To me it was too whiney and he just sounded like a crybaby. I had to read those parts myself to see if it was the narrator or writers doing. I found the narration too posh and too feminine for the male character Jacob. Just my opinion. But a very captivating story....
