Original takes on the zombie apocalypse
Revisado: 02-03-25
The stories, voice acting, and presentation were a very pleasant surprise. There is a lot of originality in what is an over saturated genre.

Fascinating and Tedious
Revisado: 09-23-24
The best parts were set in the past. I thought the story about trying to understand. Old English and navigating local customs was excellent.
Unfortunately, I can’t say the same about the contemporary portions of the novel. Didn’t take long before I got tired of hearing about bell ringers and toilet paper shortages and endless phone calls.
I think the author could’ve deleted at least 100 pages of this repetitive nonsense.

Historia
The man on the moon was dead. They called him Charlie. He had big eyes, abundant body hair, and fairly long nostrils. His skeletal body was found clad in a bright red spacesuit, hidden in a rocky grave. They didn’t know who he was, how he got there, or what had killed him. All they knew was that his corpse was 50 thousand years old - and that meant this man had somehow lived long before he ever could have existed.

Great Old School Science Fiction
Revisado: 03-19-24
The book is a bit of a throwback. I like the hard science approach and think it fits well with the mystery in the novel. The biggest shortcoming is the narrator, who does sound like an AI.

Subpar
Revisado: 01-27-24
I have to admit, I was a little disappointed with this story. Seemed a bit too rote and padded out. I know the narrator it is best, but the villain sounded exactly like Dr. Evil. Unintentionally hilarious.

Pointless
Revisado: 01-10-24
A group of survivors stumbles from one scenario to another. There was no real rhyme or reason to the story. The overly melodramatic writing did not help. I think the narrator did his best.

Vampire Earth has Run Its Course
Revisado: 11-29-23
I am a big fan of the series. But it seems like the author has simply run out of ideas. Too much of the story is overlong exposition. It seems like it was there to pad overall length. Too many callbacks, and too many characters crammed into the story.

Phoning It In
Revisado: 08-03-23
I have always been a big fan of the Longmire series. This book reads like a Greatest Hits collection from better work. It includes the snow storm, multiple injuries to our sheriff, and of course, Henry Standing Bear. The narrator does his usual good job, but the material is just stale. A big disappointment.

“Buy the ticket, take the ride,” was a favorite slogan of Hunter S. Thompson, and it pretty much defined both his work and his life. Fear and Loathing at Rolling Stone showcases the roller-coaster of a career at the magazine that was his literary home.

Basically a clip show of already famous work.
More correspondence would have been better.
The voice actor captured Thompson’s voice and cadence, but I still prefer Scott Sowers.

A decent story hurt by bad voice acting.
Revisado: 11-25-22
I like the authors work. This book is a basic knock off of The Eagle Has Landed. Still, I enjoyed it when I read it all those years ago.
The main problem with this particular product is the voice acting. It almost feels like a parity of the various characters in the book, especially the one American rifleman, it sounds like a satire of a Jewish rabbi.
