Historia
Nothing is harder to do these days than nothing. But in a world where our value is determined by our 24/7 data productivity...doing nothing may be our most important form of resistance. So argues artist and critic Jenny Odell in this field guide to doing nothing (at least as capitalism defines it). Our attention is the most precious - and overdrawn - resource we have. Once we can start paying a new kind of attention, we can undertake bolder forms of political action, reimagine humankind's role in the environment, and find more meaningful understandings of happiness and progress.

I was surprised at how angry the tone of this book is. That it really is an activist book disguised in self help language. I believe there is some ideas of merit in here but it is bitter, angry, moralizing, politicized. Not for me. Maybe for you. Give it a try.

Historia
In The Righteous Mind, social psychologist Jonathan Haidt explores the origins of our divisions and points the way forward to mutual understanding. His starting point is moral intuition - the nearly instantaneous perceptions we all have about other people and the things they do. These intuitions feel like self-evident truths, making us righteously certain that those who see things differently are wrong. Haidt shows us how these intuitions differ across cultures, including the cultures of the political left and right.

Excellent

A must read for anyone curious about polarized politics. Animosity between and bonding within ideological groups. Identity - believe and belonging. Excellent.

Historia
What does everyone in the modern world need to know? Renowned psychologist Jordan B. Peterson's answer to this most difficult of questions uniquely combines the hard-won truths of ancient tradition with the stunning revelations of cutting-edge scientific research. Humorous, surprising, and informative, Dr. Peterson tells us why skateboarding boys and girls must be left alone, what terrible fate awaits those who criticize too easily, and why you should always pet a cat when you meet one on the street.

For those exploring the most important questions
Revisado: 08-29-20
A brief note on low reviews: it immediately strikes me as ironic that the negative review focus on his citing the Bible as bible thumping and the length of the meditations as ponderous and long winded.
He is neither thumping the Bible nor long winded. These reviewers have missed the point entirely.
If you are looking for a list of rules to live by, get the abridged, written version.
If you are curious to explore fundamental ideas that might compel you to really live your life, listen to this and hear him speak precisely, without haste or waste, drawing upon what he rightly refers to as ancient wisdom. It is not proselytizing, it is an exploration of meaning. He authentically cares about you and me. I don’t know why. But we should be grateful. I am. Thank you.
Buy the full length written version as well.
