Great firsthand account
Revisado: 09-04-24
The concept of UAPs interests me but I get turned off with third-hand accounts and accounts of abductions that sound skeptical. Elizondo’s first hand account of his experience and the knowledge he has been exposed to is a refreshing take in the space. Take it or leave it, his honesty is refreshing and the work he has done seems to have gained momentum in the disclosure arena.

Historia
Who hasn’t wondered for a split second what the world would be like if a person who is the object of your affliction ceased to exist? But then you’ve probably never heard of The McMasters Conservatory, dedicated to the consummate execution of the homicidal arts. To gain admission, a student must have an ethical reason for erasing someone who deeply deserves a fate no worse (nor better) than death. The campus of this “Poison Ivy League” college—its location unknown to even those who study there—is where you might find yourself the practice target of a classmate.

It was a struggle
Revisado: 02-16-24
A great concept with great characters but it was a struggle to finish. I felt like giving up on many occasions. A bland book for murder might be a more appropriate sub title.

Historia
A successful film professor and podcaster, Bodie Kane is content to forget her past—the family tragedy that marred her adolescence, her four largely miserable years at a New Hampshire boarding school, and the murder of her former roommate, Thalia Keith, in the spring of their senior year. Though the circumstances surrounding Thalia’s death and the conviction of the school’s athletic trainer, Omar Evans, are hotly debated online, Bodie prefers—needs—to let sleeping dogs lie.

Couldn’t finish
Revisado: 01-01-24
A novel about a podcast instructor that’s teaching a class about podcasting.
It’s a circular mess that goes back and forth between first person and imaginary what-if in podcast form. I couldn’t force myself to care or continue. And I tried.

Historia
The witnesses are legion, scattered across the world and dotted through history, people who looked up and saw something impossible lighting up the night sky. What those objects were, where they came from, and who - or what - might be inside them is the subject of fierce debate and equally fierce mockery, so that most who glimpsed them came to wish they hadn't. Most, but not everyone.

Color me impressed
Revisado: 09-16-23
I’d go 4.5 if I could. The narrator annoyed me at the start. The story started slow coupled with the narration and I almost gave up. But the story caught me and I got accustomed to the narrator. Well written. I love the mix of history plus the old UFO urban legends we have all heard. Looking forward to the second book.

A solid addition to the series. Winslow + Fliakos are a great team. If you are buoyed the previous books you will enjoy this one. At times it started to slow, only to be jolted by a new and original turn.

Historia
Moses and Troy Horne here. Your mental-toughness guides! We know exactly how you feel. If you are reading this, you probably have a young athlete who struggles with in-game stress and maybe even sports performance anxiety. That is why this version was mostly written by Moses. As of the time of the writing of this book, Moses Horne is a 15-year-old elite athlete who can talk directly about the triumphs and struggles of working toward being mentally tough. This is the only book that I know of with input from an actual young athlete.

Garbage. Same as parents version
Revisado: 06-06-23
What should be a two page PDF of information that is not unique nor insightful is spread across many hours of filler coupled with selfless promotion for a website, podcast or other services.
This version is read by the son and is often word for word the same as the parents guide. The audio of the parents guide is even worse as the author/reader likes to add his own color commentary that he finds funny and helpful.
Repetitive. Not insightful.

Historia
Many famed music producers are known for a particular sound that has its day. Rick Rubin is known for something else: creating a space where artists of all different genres and traditions can home in on who they really are and what they really offer. He has made a practice of helping people transcend their self-imposed expectations in order to reconnect with a state of innocence from which the surprising becomes inevitable. Over the years, he has learned that being an artist isn’t about your specific output, it’s about your relationship to the world.

If you make or create this book is for you
Revisado: 03-11-23
I can see how this book isn’t for everyone. Rick’s ethos has been telegraphed for years and this book delivers that ethos in full force. It’s inspirational as well as instructive.
If you like Rick. You’ll enjoy this book. If you make stuff, dream stuff or have ever felt stuck or stifled in that process you will enjoy this book.
If the idea of spirituality, meditation and one’s ability to “feel” creative turns you off; so will the book.

Dox: a romantic novel?
Revisado: 01-03-23
I’ve read em all. And I barely finished this one. At times it felt formulaic and overly familiar. The familiar Dox love interest and his charm winning her over was over the top this time. Maybe it was a necessary prequel for more exciting Dox stories but this was not Eisler’s best work.

As one of the music world’s most iconic artists and the cofounder of the organizations ONE and (RED), Bono’s career has been written about extensively. But in Surrender, it’s Bono who picks up the pen, writing for the first time about his remarkable life and those he has shared it with. In his unique voice, Bono takes us from his early days growing up in Dublin, including the sudden loss of his mother when he was fourteen, to U2’s unlikely journey to become one of the world’s most influential rock bands, to his more than twenty years of activism.

One of the best rock biographies I’ve ever heard
Revisado: 12-02-22
Granted U2 was a huge part of my youth so I’m a little biased but this was one of the best first hand accounts of rock n roll stardom including all the pitfalls.
It’s a great story of amazing friends and my hat is off to Bono for his amazing writing and the all details he accounts.
His performance is equally great.
If you like rock bios, even if you aren’t a U2 fan, listen to this book.
