Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

Weak mystery, interesting characters
Revisado: 11-20-22
The mystery in this book is extremely simple. It took too long for clues to dawn on the main character. The backstory of the characters is interesting. I think most people interested in cryptozoology would also find the mystery weak.

Upbeat Fantasy Story
Revisado: 03-30-22
Excellent narrator! A story without violence, extreme stress, or dystopian themes. This was an interesting story with likeable characters and a balm to me during stressful times. I'm looking forward to reading more by Nathan Lowell.

Historia
In the winter of 1918, at the height of World War I, history's most lethal influenza virus erupted in an army camp in Kansas, moved east with American troops, then exploded, killing as many as 100 million people worldwide. It killed more people in 24 weeks than AIDS has killed in 24 years, more in a year than the Black Death killed in a century. But this was not the Middle Ages, and 1918 marked the first collision between modern science and epidemic disease.

Deep Dive into the History of the 1918 Pandemic
Revisado: 09-22-21
There is a lot of information in this book. there are tangents that go quite in depth but if you're really interested in the topic interested in the history of medicine and the history of the study of infectious diseases you will be grateful for the tangents that go off in those areas and then come back to the main focus of the pandemic.

Historia
Hugh of Singleton, fourth son of a minor knight, has been educated as a clerk, usually a prelude to taking holy orders. However, feeling no certain calling despite a lively faith, he turns to the profession of surgeon, training in Paris and then hanging out his sign in Oxford. A local lord asks him to track the killer of a young woman whose bones have been found in the castle cesspit. She is identified as the impetuous missing daughter of a local blacksmith, and her young man, whom she had provoked very publicly, is in due course arrested and sentenced at the Oxford assizes.

Can't wait for more
Revisado: 05-05-21
I enjoyed this book very much. The narration is spot on. I'm looking forward to the next in the series. The mystery was a little bit easy to solve but it was interesting to find out how the main character was going to solve it and how he would make sure the truth came out. I also appreciated that the Church though present in the book because it was present in everyone's life at this point was not vilified.

Historia
Early studies of the human brain used a simple method: Wait for misfortune to strike - strokes, seizures, infectious diseases, horrendous accidents - and see how victims coped. In many cases their survival was miraculous, if puzzling. Observers were amazed by the transformations that took place when different parts of the brain were destroyed, altering victims' personalities. With the lucid, masterful explanations and razor-sharp wit his fans have come to expect, Kean explores the brain's secret passageways.

Good plot, LOTS of f-bombs
Revisado: 12-20-20
The repeatative use of the f-word and c-word and other crude terms really distracted me from the storyline. I did really like the characters and the world the author created.

Interesting history
Revisado: 09-26-20
I'm glad I listened to this book. I wish it had been a little bit more in chronological order but I also realize at some points so much was going on it had to be told by following one story line and then the other even though we had to go back in time.
