Historia
As far as Fitzwilliam Darcy is concerned, the only good thing to come of Elizabeth Bennet’s bitter refusal of his heart and his hand was his new resolve to prove himself a better man. He’d done it, too, by closing the painful distance between himself and his estranged younger brother, Drew. And now Drew is newly engaged to be married…to Elizabeth Bennet. Family duty forces Darcy to support the engagement, especially since even the smallest hint of disapproval could ruin the brothers’ hard-won reconciliation. But how can he bear to watch his brother marry the woman he loves?

The story veers so wildly, so very differently from the original that the only similarities are the characters names.

Historia
When America won the Revolutionary War, its people offered General George Washington a crown. Two and a half centuries later, the House of Washington still sits on the throne. Like most royal families, the Washingtons have an heir and a spare. A future monarch and a backup battery. Each child knows exactly what is expected of them. But these aren't just any royals. They're American.

Unsatisfying ending!
Revisado: 04-30-20
***Spoiler***
I loved the book until I realized that with barely five minutes left, the story just ends with nothing resolved and all of the characters unhappy! I’m so disappointed!

Hated it
Revisado: 10-02-17
I had high hopes for both the story and the narrator. I hoped, believed that both would get better. Instead I found myself listening as one watches a sad story on the news... shaking my head with disbelief. Major plot lines from Pride & Prejudice are missing and the entire last hour is devoted to a servant whom we never even meet in the book. Awful. Avoid this audiobook!

In the chaotic aftermath of World War II, American college girl Charlie St. Clair is pregnant, unmarried, and on the verge of being thrown out of her very proper family. She's also nursing a desperate hope that her beloved cousin Rose, who disappeared in Nazi-occupied France during the war, might still be alive.

Wonderful narrator, good story...
Revisado: 08-13-17
I listened to this book in part because I've listened to other books read by this narrator. She is wonderful however in both books you can tell when sections have been re-recorded as the tone of her voice noticeably changes.
The story was good with two drawbacks. One: the "Eve" sections had altogether too much foul language. Was it necessary to write curses as every other word? I started listening to the "Charlie" chapters only, but as the story continues, their chapters become one. Two: It was disturbing to hear how little care was taken for Charlie's pregnancy. Granted, it was the 40's and perhaps not a lot was known about pregnancy do's and don'ts, but it was troubling nonetheless.
