Historia
Romance can be a little complicated when you get sucked into a wormhole. Just ask high school English teacher June Flint. One little solar flare happens and suddenly you find yourself 85 years in the future. Eighty-five years from your dream job. Your ailing mother whose only companion in this world is you. Your favorite stuffed-crust pizza from DeLucia’s on Sunday nights. But when June’s cell phone inexplicably picks up a signal, she’s able to call back to the present—more specifically, four weeks before she accidentally time traveled.

Needs to be a movie!
Revisado: 04-30-25
This book was so cute and fun. I love that normal people were used as the main characters. (Billionaires heroes is just a no for me. I tend to hate that trend) I love that the male was named Mikey. And he wore sweats and T-shirts. And he was just such a great guy! And June was so likable, sweet, and smart and brave. I even loved the side characters. They were all great. (Heh, Heh, Pickles!!!) I listened to this at work and the night flew by as I was busy reading about what Mikey and June were up to. Also the narrators are awesome. More! We want more of these two narrators, they are so genuine and talented. Thank You for this book.

Lucy Hutton has always been certain that the nice girl can get the corner office. She's charming and accommodating and prides herself on being loved by everyone at Bexley & Gamin. Everyone except for coldly efficient, impeccably attired, physically intimidating Joshua Templeman. And the feeling is mutual. Trapped in a shared office together 40 (ok, 50 or 60) hours a week, they've become entrenched in an addictive, ridiculous never-ending game of one-upmanship.

Cute, Fun, Office Romance
Revisado: 04-24-25
I bought this on sale, and I didn't think I would like this one too much. Mostly because in a romance I tend to need more of a plot line to follow than will they or won't they get together. But surprise, surprise I actually really enjoyed this book. I liked the two main characters and the plot pacing went by quickly enough. This is what I call a fun, cozy romance. I will probably reread it one day.

A heavy hitting and thought provoking novel
Revisado: 04-19-25
This book is not about Vietnam, but the Vietnam War plays throughout the book. My father is a Vietnam Vet, so this book made me feel some discomfort while reading it. That will not be the case for most people though, But if you fought in Vietnam or had a Dad that fought over there like me, be aware that parts of this book will bring up feelings.
That said, This book is a powerful story, So much was put into writing these characters. I really felt like I was part of this 1970's world. This is the first book I have read by this author, and I will be reading his other books soon.

This book is so good!
Revisado: 04-10-25
I love Dennis Lehane's stories. He often writes a kind Noir-ish fiction set in Boston. Noir usually means morally compromised protagonists, gritty city life, bleak outlook on human nature, etc. And I am a huge fan of Noir Fiction. Listen to what Author Dennis Lehane says about the genre
“In Greek tragedy, they fall from great heights. In noir, they fall from the curb.”
― Dennis Lehane
And in Small Mercies, fall from the curb they do. I was just transported to this time and place, I loved reading about the characters,, I didn't want to stop reading the book. But now that it's over,... I am sad, because I can guarantee the next book I read won't be anywhere near as good as this one. That happens sometimes when you read a really great book, you end up having a problem latching onto the next novel. Anyways, read this book. It deals with Racism, so be aware there will be many offensive characters in the book. It didn't bother me none, but I don't get offended easily either, so keep that in mind.

Now my family's gone, and the only person who can keep me safe in a violent, chaotic world is my dead boyfriend's rough, uncivilized father. I don't like him. At all. I really like Clair Kent's Kindled series
Revisado: 03-23-25
This was a fun little addition to Claire Kent's Kindled series. And I did enjoy reading it. I wanted Cal to be punished for his actions at times, but i have to admit, their meet up is a bit unconventional, so maybe I should be more understanding. I like books 1 & 2 better, but this one is doable. I read it pretty quickly and plan on picking up book 4 whenever it's released.

Historia
On an ordinary Monday morning, Ariel Cafferty's phone buzzes with a disturbing text message. Something’s happened. I need to see you. Meet me under the candelabra tree ASAP. The words would be jarring from anyone, but the sender is the only man she ever loved. And it's been several years since she learned he died. Seeing Drew’s name pop up is heart-stopping. Ariel’s gut says it can’t be real. But she goes to the tree anyway. She has to. Nobody shows.

It was Okay. Kinda blah though
Revisado: 01-02-25
I think the synopsis of the story sounded really interesting. And this wasn't a really bad book, it just wasn't that good or interesting. Ariel plucked at my nerves on how she looked down on her mother for staying married to her abusive father, but then Ariel herself stays around taking handouts from the guy in the form of a place to live, a cushy job, etc.
I will say that Ariel is a lot more forgiving to her boyfriends than I am, I wouldn't want a guy that lied to me that much, reasons be damned!! I just wanted to kick Drew, The writing wasn't bad, it wasn't the best, but it was passable ( I draw the line at bad writing) This book was so-so, nothing to love or rave about, but better than a 1 or 2 star book.

Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

Heartfelt Story, loved the Tova Character
Revisado: 12-27-24
Not the kind of book I normally picked up, but I heard such good things about it, I was curious to try. It's what I call a little slice of life story, where you follow a few characters as they try to make it in this world. This one is more unique because one of the characters is an Octopus. I think the writing is good, the story decent enough. I don't think it's as great as others have been claiming, but as I said, this is not my normal type of book, Literary Fiction. I read a lot of thrillers and mysteries. But it was enjoyable enough.

Historia
Maybe Jackson would be different if he were in love. If he were in a relationship. Or, if the world outside this room hadn't fallen into violent chaos, hadn't become a constant war we have no choice but to fight. Maybe he would take his time. Be softer. Gentler. Maybe he would smile or even laugh. Maybe I would be different too. Maybe I wouldn't need his hungry eyes and demanding hands in the dark. But this is how we are together every time. He's not my friend or my boyfriend, but sometimes I go to his room after the sun goes down. I need to.

A Post Apocalyptic Romance with Hope
Revisado: 11-21-24
Although, a Post Apocalyptic book, you can say this one has hope and some sweetness in it. Faith is a good heroine to root for. Beautiful, Strong, Kind and Brave. And Jackson is grouchy, tough, and obsessed with keeping Faith and all the other residents safe. Very entertaining. I loved this book. It was easy to get into the story, and become invested in the characters right away. Please, Audible, Release Princess and the other books set in this world, soon.

Someone who needs Mina's assistance and who knows exactly how to make her comply. It's 20 hours to landing. A lot can happen in 20 hours....

not really for me, narrator was bad
Revisado: 09-22-24
If I could give the Narrator negative stars I would. I understand that narrating a book takes talent and skill, but this narrator wasn't bad because she had horrible range. No she sucks because she didn't even try. Zero effort to give the man, woman or child a different voice. It was difficult to figure out who was talking. At least each chapter announces who's viewpoint it is. That made it a tad easier. This book really just wasn't for me. It wasn't horrible or anything, I just didn't enjoy it. I didn't really care for any of the characters, and I hated the preachiness of being in the hijackers head.

Characters are horrible and stupid
Revisado: 09-05-24
This is a story about horrible people doing horrible things. They bicker amongst themselves. Everybody is also dumber than dirt. The motive and the actions of the characters defy logic and reason. I couldn't return this, because I bought it on sale,. I ended up speeding up the talking to get it over with.
