When the MMC and FMC started having sex, I was very confused why the FMC was so concerned about getting fired by her boss even though the MMC told her not to worry. I was even more confused when the MMC acted scared of the FMC's boss being mad at the FMC for having meetings with the MMC. He's the CEO!
After the FMC gets fired, the MMC doesn't even ask for details from the FMC's boss. He just accepts the decision with no information. Again, he's the CEO! Why is he acting like he doesn't have the power to secure the FMC's job? This made zero sense.
As far as the relationship development, I guess I missed it. Did it happen in the month of back and forth on email that had occurred prior to the start of the book? It didn't seem so, but it also didn't happen within the pages of this book. They had sex multiple times, but they both agreed it was temporary and "just sex." There was no gradual development of feelings. All of a sudden, they want to be together. Why? No idea, but I guess if you go by the story, the reason would be, "great sex."
Besides the deeper feelings coming out of nowhere, I never really felt the connection between the two characters. They didn't seem to go together well. I didn't feel any chemistry between them and their personalities didn't mesh well, in my opinion. I actually thought several times that they seemed to be mismatched.
Overall, I give this one 1.75 stars. I enjoyed the scenes between the brothers, but not much else worked for me. It DID intrigue me enough to continue with the series though.

He's a gifted hockey player who can't get his act together. The moment I heard about Levi Ziegler, I had a bad feeling in my gut. As a seasoned sports agent, I just knew he was going to be trouble. But despite my reservations, as a favor to the GM of the Vancouver Wolves, I agreed to sign this young, wild player as a client. One reckless night, one terrible mistake, and suddenly my entire world and everything I have worked for is on thin ice. Thanks to my rookie.

I absolutely adored this book. I loved the MMC. He was so sweet and patient and adoring. The FMC was sassy and capable and strong. I thought I would get annoyed by her pushing the MMC away, but I didn't. She had good reasons and she never did it in a way that made me doubt her feelings/attraction to the MMC.
I didn't like that she kissed another man, but I think her character needed that reality check. She needed to realize that moving on from the MMC wasn't going to be as simple as just deciding to date other people or to stay away from him. She craved him.
I was glued to my audiobook during this entire story. The pacing was perfect and I enjoyed the slow burn between the MMC and FMC. Their chemistry was palpable throughout the entire book, but the build up to their first sober time together was masterfully done.
My favorite scene was the MMC asking the FMC why she had bite marks on her after their wedding night. He knew she didn't remember the night, but he also knew she would know why he bit her, considering it's not something he normally does. It was a hot exchange.
Five stars. Loved it!

He's a professional hockey player that lives on the edge. I prefer to play life by the rules. I'm the personal assistant at a sports agency that no one notices. I don't like sports, and I like professional athletes even less. I'm indifferent to the mostly male clientele, except for one. Mica "the savage" Petrov. When it comes to wild antics, Mica is the biggest offender of them all. He's reckless, wild, and carelessly charming. I'm mortified that I find him attractive. But it doesn't matter because the guy hasn't taken a second look at me. Not once. In two years.

Hold up! I was enjoying this story, despite it's rocky start, until the MMC and FMC have sex for the first time. What do you mean you don't want kids but you are going to go ahead and come in the FMC three times in one night? That's a stupid decision. Actually, no. It's three stupid decisions. And what do you mean you don't want to take plan B because of the side effects? Because PREGNANCY is better than side effects? If the FMC had been more specific and had legitimate concerns, that would be one thing, but it came across like she was concerned about minor side effects, not serious ones. These two aren't the brightest bulbs in the box, so I guess they are made for each other.
Later in the story, after learning about the traumatic event involving ice skates that caused the MMC to never want children, the pregnant FMC wants to put on ice skates at a charity event. Ice skating is not recommended for ANY pregnant woman, but why would she WANT to ice skate while pregnant given the MMC's history? It's very insensitive. With that being said, given the FMC's characterization in the book, her behavior is more likely driven by her tendency to make poor decisions than callousness.
This book was a roller coaster, as far as enjoyment level as I read it. It fluctuated between being entertaining and being frustrating. If I divide the book into four parts, I would say the first quarter of the book was 2 stars, the second quarter was 5 stars, the 3rd quarter was 3 stars and the last quarter was 5 stars. Overall, this book is 3.75 stars.
Favorite scene: The MMC tells the FMC be will be affectionate in public because everyone will expect him to be. The FMC finds out a little later that the MMC typically hates PDA.

I really wanted to like this book but too many things hindered my enjoyment of it. It's a shame because the MMC was intriguing in the Vancouver Wolves series, but it was like he had a different personality in this book.
First of all, what do you mean Charlie gave away Sasha? Absolutely not. Dog lover Charlie would not just give away one of her dogs! The dog sitting was cute, but the FMC could have just adopted a dog if she wanted one.
The FMC questioning the MMC's decisions, when she knows nothing about his lifestyle, got old really quickly. Her slow realization about how things are in his world also got old. Her wondering "if all the guns are necessary" after she herself had witnessed a murder and had been targeted TWICE made her look stupid. Not to mention her refusal to learn to shoot a gun. It took way too long for her to realize it was a necessity that she knew how to defend herself.
The FMC obviously appreciates the MMC protecting her, but she never really accepts him as he is. I understand she wants him to be safe and not in danger, but that aspect doesn't seem to be her major issue with his job/life. It's that he's a criminal.
I'm not sure how I feel about the ending. There's never an explanation for why the MMC does what he does or what he really wants out of life, besides the FMC. Yes, he says he does illegal things to make money, but he supposedly was way more than just a criminal doing illegal things. Since we are not told how the MMC became such a powerful man or what his aspirations are, I don't know if his new direction in life is fulfilling for him. Is it what he wants? Or is he just doing it for the FMC?
There are some good scenes in this book, but the issues above knock the rating down to 2.75 stars.

I've never been in love. I've never had an orgasm, but I've faked plenty. I want to experience love. Real, passionate love. I don't want to die. It's funny what blurts out of your mouth when the plane you're on is going down, and I didn't hold back with my seat mate when my plane decided to crash. My hysterical confessions didn't faze the muscular stranger that sat beside me. In fact, he promised if we survived, he'd give me my first orgasm.

This book is unrealistic, has many over-the-top moments and more twists and turns than a roller coaster. Most of the side characters are frustrating and nonsensical, each one making terrible decisions and/or resembling a cartoon villain.
With that being said, I adored the MMC and FMC and their story. There's chaos around them, but I enjoyed the development of their relationship. The MMC trusts the FMC early on and never waivers in his trust. The FMC supports the MMC and has his back throughout everything.
The main characters have great chemistry and their journey is engaging. If you can suspend disbelief regarding the external conflicts in this story, the romance itself is lovely. I'm giving this five stars because that's just how much I adored these characters.

Have you ever had the feeling you were a stranger? Out of reach, I watched and mourned me. Nothing moved. Breathed. Nothing lived. I was in an alternate universe. No longer an innocent. I had blood on my hands, and I wasn't even sorry for it. I was only afraid for Keiran. Of his reaction when the shock wore off. It would be an explosion. Of hurt, anger, and mistrust. He'd know I lied. And to him...the betrayal born of my good intentions is worse than the act of murder.

I'm rating this 3.5 stars for everything except the romance between the MMC and FMC. The overall storyline, the twists and turns, the loose ends being tied up, the glimpses of the other couples and the MMC's character arc are all intriguing and kept me engaged throughout this book.
The FMC continued to be an idiot and make illogical decisions, just as she did in book two. I'm not sure how the MMC can be as messed up as he is, but still make more sense and be more rational than the FMC. But here we are. Reading through the reviews, I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed the FMC had no reason for most of her choices.
The FMC decides to kill the MMC's father for an illogical reason. Then she decided to go back into his room after she knows someone else killed him. Why? That's beyond stupid. She runs away from the MMC multiple times like an immature teenager. For someone who is so demanding of the MMC, it is ridiculous how much she runs away instead of communicating. She lies to the MMC about his dad and then has the nerve to leave AGAIN, after everything they've been through, because she finds out about a lie of his from four years ago. She left for a month over that? Considering the lies she told him, I think her reaction was very hypocritical. She should have stayed and worked things out with him. Communicated with him. But, of course, she's also upset he didn't chase after her.
The FMC does some pretty cool things in this book, but her kickbutt moments are overshadowed by her dumb decisions.
Overall, this is an entertaining series with complex characters. It's bonkers, but I enjoyed it.

I thought this book would be my favorite in the series because Dash and Willow have been my favorite couple. Their origin story and path to love is intriguing.
I was glad this book included flashbacks so we could see how their relationship developed. Without those flashbacks, it would have been very difficult to root for this couple at all.
This book, overall, was a disappointment. Willow's actions are not adequately explained at all. Her disappearance? Seemed to be a tantrum because Lake left college. Her constantly turning Dash down? Because her mother told her to? Even as an adult? Even though she grew to hate her mom, she still allowed her influence on her decisions? If she loved him, "my mom told me so", wouldn't have kept her away from him for so long. As far as her insecurities, understanding for that can only go so far when it's made abundantly clear she has reason to be secure. Get therapy, at that point.
In addition to the above, everyone's actions this book were off and nonsensical. Willow gets dumped at the wedding, obviously against her will, and everyone is angry with her? Or suspicious of her? I understand she's obviously lying about what happened, but it's also obvious she didn't choose to be dumped at the wedding.
Willow told everyone about being told to kill Kieran, but didn't tell them when she was confronted again and given a deadline. Why? Her reasoning that she realized no one could protect her made no sense. Why keep that secret? I mean, why not tell them, "hey, I realized today you guys can't protect me because guess what? She visited me today in Dash's apartment and gave me a week to kill Kieran. We need a plan, guys. We aren't safe."
Regarding Dash, he didn't make sense at the end. I completely understand his frustration with Willow because, if I was him, there's no way I would believe she loved me. He walked away from her because he realized he felt nothing for her anymore. Her betrayal was too much. So, he changed his mind because why? It's not fully explained. Not to my satisfaction. The man inner monologued that he felt nothing when he looked at her and he didn't lust after her anymore. She killed his feelings. When he shows up months later, he tells her he wants her to be with someone who makes her happy and pretends to let her go again. He hired an actor to pretend to perform her marriage ceremony to someone else and told her afterwards that he wanted to be with her. Because he wanted to mess with her? Taking a page from his bff's book? What?! It makes no sense.
Not only did the pretend marriage ceremony (without the participants knowing it was pretend) make zero sense, but Dash had no reaction to finding out Willow was pregnant? The whole reason he walked away from her was because her lies became too much! The betrayal caused him to view her differently. We have no idea why he changed his mind, but why wouldn't he have a big issue with her lying once again? It makes sense that, if he was forgiving her for her previous betrayal, that discovering a NEW betrayal would make him take a step back and question his actions. He walked away before for it and she's proving she will lie again.
Overall, I have to give this book three stars for being addictive, even though it's a mess. This series is confusing. I don't like it but I do. I like the characters, but I don't like almost everything they do.

This series is annoying because it is addictive even though it is frustrating and bizarre. All the characters need intensive therapy.
The MMC is upset with the FMC for not visiting him while he was dying, which I agree with him about, but he minimizes his cheating throughout their relationship, which I don't agree with. He is unreasonably possessive of her and angry at the thought of her having sex with other men but he had sex with other women while with her. Plus, he left. Is she supposed to be celibate?
Which, the fact he was angry with her and "hated" her made it even more bizarre that he stayed celibate in the four years they were apart. He couldn't stay faithful to her while they were together, but he couldn't bring himself to have sex with anyone else after they broke up? Again, get to some therapy sessions!
The FMC was annoying because she said she loved the MMC and he's the love of her life, but she didn't visit him in the hospital even though she knew he might not make it out. Yeah, she visited once and left because OW was there, but he was there a long time. She had forgiven him multiple times in the past for cheating but decided to stay true to being apart when he is dying? Also, why did visiting him equate to forgiving him for cheating? Why couldn't she just visit him as a supportive presence? The man almost died! Don't say you care if you can't even bring yourself to support him in a time like that.
I wanted to root for this couple, but between the MMC cheating in the past, the FMC not visiting him while he was in the hospital, the MMC being physically abusive in the present and the FMC being wishy washy in the present, it was difficult to see any romance or true love between these two. With that being said, these books in this series are so captivating that I can't give this any less than three stars. It's well-written, over-the-top drama.

There's really no excuse for me enjoying this series. None. The characters are nonsensical. The story is bonkers. The romance isn't romancing. I don't know what to say for myself, I really don't.
The MMC can't decide what he wants to do with the FMC. The FMC, instead of going back and forth, simultaneously desires the MMC, loves him, works to enact revenge against him and wants him to go to prison for double murder. Going back and forth would be annoying enough, but to actively be wanting him to go to prison, working to make sure that happens and caring about his welfare/what happens to him and having sex with him, all at the same time, just makes the FMC look idiotic. It's not even being wishy washy at that point; it is just dumb. Which, by the way, she accuses the MMC of being wishy washy at one point, which is hilariously hypocritical. She's definitely more back and forth than he is, as far as actions go. Most of his battle is internal; he is pretty consistent in how he treats her/communicates with her.
There are numerous issues I could point out with the plot, character motivations, character decisions, etc., but it would overshadow the fact that, despite the flaws, this book is engaging and kept me turning the pages. And not as a "hate read." I actually enjoyed the absurdity of it all. It's like a soap opera, but more fast-paced, dark and toxic.
The relationship between the FMC and MMC wasn't really the focus of this book, but I didn't mind that since they aren't very good together anyway. I'm rooting for them, but only because they both would be terrible for anyone else. Their obsession with each other won't allow them to be good partners for anyone else. I haven't really seen much love between them, but, ironically, the MMC seems to care about the FMC more than she cares about him. No matter how he treats her and what he says to her, he is always there for her and protects her. The FMC cannot say the same. She actively tried to bring him down and put him away for the rest of his life.
The FMC looked even more ridiculous when she was told the MMC could face the death penalty. Why didn't she already know that? She is supposedly devastated, but later in the book, she's upset the MMC got off without any charges. Even though she knows he didn't really commit the murders. All the while, she's heartbroken that he broke things off with her AND he'd just saved her life by almost dying by taking a bullet for her. Can she pick a lane? Does she want to be with him or does she want him charged for murder/accessory to murder?

I liked the Duet Narration of these books. Unfortunately, this series has been underwhelming for me, so far. The first book was 1.25 stars, the second was 3 stars and the third was 2 stars. I plan to read the rest but I will probably read them instead of listening on audiobook.
I typically enjoy this author's books, but the first three books in this series are full of character decisions that just do not make sense to me at all.
