ABRIDGED SUCKS!!!!!!!!! plus its greedy.
Revisado: 03-04-25
WHY do you guys keep making abridged versions of what should be the FULL book. I'm going to assume because it requires 1/3 or a 1/4 of the cost so you give us a short summary version of the book but sell it to is at full price. this is the last time I encourage this behavior. there's SO many star wars legends books that you guys have yet to convert to modern day audiobook, the yuuzhan vong invasion, swarm war. you guys can charge 25-30 a book, the FULL UNABRIDGED version and EVERYONE will pay. that is if you use marc Thompson or Johnathon Davis as voice actors, imagine using them both in the same book portraying characters on opposing sides!....you guys could make a killing, ive been waiting but instead you put out random legends books noone has asked for and you chop it up to make it smaller and sell it as a full product. it's on me for purchasing it. but on you for creating it. shame on you.

Historia
Before you knew him as the king or the Immortal, he was Commander Xavier “X” Rodriguez—with ninety-six dives under his belt, the most experienced Hell Diver on the airship known as the Hive. Time after time, he dived through the electrical storms, returning with parts to keep his home in the sky. Then, on a jump into Hades, the most hostile environment in North America, he sacrificed everything for mission and team. They returned to the airship with the fuel cells needed to keep the Hive running, but X was left behind.

Felt very rushed/missed opportunity.
Revisado: 01-30-25
I remember when I saw that this book was coming out i thought, awesome! this could be a very interesting. this lost story comes out after the series has finished so obviously the story was never going to as thrilling and stakes were never going to be anywhere close to the main story. but that wasn't the point. there's approximately 10 years of X's life we miss out on, and his journey from a post-apocalyptic hellscscape Chicago all the way down to Florida where we reunites with tin and the gang.....that's a whole lot of story potential. it won't be anything we haven't heard before, but we still would've loved a proper filler, really flesh out X and his odyssey from the X we know in book 1 til the we meet in book 2 that doesn't even recognize our heros when they meet up.
this felt extremely rushed, almost like an abridged version. like he started this book with different intentions and quickly realized he just wanted to be done and move on. this is more of a short story than a book. I'm not mad, the series is over atleast for now, this was just a little extra after the fact, but it was extremely brief, it was more of a very brief summary of Xs time after he's stranded in Chicago until he decides to leave with miles. that's it. I feel like the journey from Chicago to Florida would've been filled with great potential....just a strange decision by an otherwise very good book series/author.
with a book on general rhino on the way, I REALLY hope he doesn't do the same thing to rhino as he did here. because this was a missed opportunity and that would be a major mistake.

Revisado: 01-09-25
remake the star wars legends books with the yhuuzan song, in fact, I promise you, if you take the time and money to remake ALL star wars legends books EXACTLY like you did with this book series, using this voice actor preferably or Jonathon Davis, and UNABRIDGED versions only. you will make a KILLING! I don't know ANY other books that are done in this way with music and sound effects. it's like listening to a movie and this particular voice actor is SPECTACULAR. it took him a little bit but he has refined his voice acting to the point that he literally sounds like mark Hamill Harrison Ford even carrie fisher. I've purchased almost ALL the star wars audiobooks you have that are unabridged and done this way.....
it's pretty sad after hearing this series, remembering how the direction disney went. I mean, they literally could've taken these books beat for beat put it to film. BOOM massive success. I just pretend those movies never happened. these books are the real star wars story.

Father of cyberpunk William Gibson’s original script for Alien III, written in 1987 as a sequel to Aliens, never made it to our screens, although it went on to achieve cult status among fans as the third instalment that might have been after being leaked online. This terrifying, cinematic multicast dramatisation - directed by the multi-award-winning Dirk Maggs - is the chance to experience William Gibson’s untold story and its terrifying, claustrophobic and dark encounters between humans and aliens, as a completely immersive audio experience.

I’ve listened to them so many times. They are so good. They all came out roughly the same time and ive been PATIENTLY waiting for more. Why havent you guys made more? These HAVE to be popular. If they are popular and you guys make money im begging you. Make moreeeee ill pay 20$ a pop easy, as long as its atleast 8 hours minimum. But seriously, whoever made these, get it together and make more, now! Im tired of relistening to these.

Defenitly worth your time
Revisado: 02-09-22
Great sci-fi story, I appreciate how easy it is to listen to, none of the incomprehensible use of scientific jargon or Exposition I can’t really understand. Its a fun book. My only complaint is that sometimes he doesn’t know whether it wants to be serious or Comedic. Its endearing at first and comedy is for sure a must but i feel its a bit overdone at times and effects the tone/seriousness of a situation. When wick first finds the talking gun and for what seems like forever just believes it’s a North Korean trying to mess with him? And his refusal to even consider that it’s an alien invasion and how long it takes for him to finally admit it was really really irritating. A combat veteran like himself, not to mention everything he saw in Antarctica, he would immediately know that this is not technology from earth. A little hesitation at first would’ve been fine but it just kind of went on and on and on and I almost stopped listening because it was so frustrating to listen to. No one would act like that. especially not an individual like Wic with his knowledge and expertise. That gun would be viewed as an asset even if it had the ability to bring reinforcements down on them. The other thing that kind of bothered me was the AI in the guns, Very cool idea but not executed very good. Mainly how they instantly have this super quirky and obnoxious personality. It would’ve been much cooler and investing if part of the AI’s character arc was going from being A cold, calculating and Tone deaf AI that as time progresses with the team learns and grows into a quirky and even obnoxious personality rather than just instantly being that. That’s kind of part of the not knowing whether it wants to be a comedy or taken seriously. Aside from the small gripes I enjoyed the story and was invested the entire time. It was very satisfying when our heroes would utilize the alien tap and you could feel how powerful it was. Another series I am reading makes the mistake of, when the enemy uses say their alien tech It’s devastating and the heroes barely escape or triumph, but when the heroes use that very same tech the heroes still barely triumph and escaped with their lives like in a video game where no matter what or how powerful you are the enemy always has a bonus to their level and stats to yours so that they are always more powerful and more difficult. This author doesn’t make that mistake Which I appreciate very much. Love this book and I am literally starting book to write after I click submit.

Revisado: 02-03-22
Amazing Sci-fi story with AMAZING RC bray. Great sequel to the first and this book leaves you ready and wanting more. Easy to follow and understand for the most part. I REALLY liked the little blooper reel at the end of RC brays mess ups. Very funny and i hope it books a regular post credits thing. I have only 1 complaint i started noticing early on in this book. I noticed that anytime our heros face an enemy, wether its a harvey or a sentinel, the fight is always like, they barely get through it, but then when our heros are those exact same things facing the enemy its like video game and they arent as strong as the enemy, like the enemy has a ridiculous health and damage buff. The mechs they use in first book our stronger n better than harveys, and in first book they fight the little n mid size sentinels n barely survive but when they are using low-high tier sentinels, rather than just PWNING they seem to get there asses kicked and barely get through fights. Obviously you want the stakes to be high n our heros to face adversity and challenges. But it just feels like theyre always barely making it, making the mechs/sentinels they use feel kinda weak. Would be cool if they became badass and legitimat threats where the odds have to be really against them to test the limits of there abilities.

Ive become a big fan of RC bray, and noticed that everybook/series he narrates are really good. So i gave this a shot and unlike some other series ive tried lately this FUTURISTIC SCI-FI ADVENTURE managed to get and keep my attention almost immediately. Its very interesting story-wise and i kept finding myself thinking of MASS EFFECT if shephard and the team used big mechs lol. Defenitly worth a listen, im about to start book two and im pretty stoked. Enjoy!

2526. It has been more than a year since humanity first encountered the hostile military alliance of alien races known as the Covenant, and several weeks after the United Nations Space Command’s devastating counterattack of Operation: SILENT STORM was deemed an overwhelming success. The UNSC has put its faith in the hands of the Spartans, led by the legendary Master Chief, John-117: enhanced super-soldiers raised and trained from childhood via a clandestine black ops project to be living weapons.

Not the worst But very mediocre
Revisado: 10-13-20
I dont know who is responsible for making the audiobook version of halo books but please fpr the love of god. Take a listen to star wars audiobooks, Top notch voice actors, music/sound effects. So engaging, like a movie made to be listened to instead of seen. This style of just a monotone voice actor is so obsolete. Even the good halo books are difficult to listen to with this guy narrating. You have ALL the sound XF n reference for audio that you could possibly need. Theres really no excuse for this. It would literally improve every single halo audiobook ten fold. Making mediocre stories like this interesting.
The story - if you havent, listen to Fall of reach, The flood, First strike and ghosts of onyx. Those stories really tap into the halo franchise and the writters do such an amazing job of understanding the universe and all its aspects. Stories like this just feel so small/insignificant with no real stakes. (Spoilers/sort of) TheCastaways are so annoying. The spartans at this point in time are still pretty new in the universr at war and out of spartan training, they would pretty indoctrinated still with following orders and not thinking twice about sacrificing the few for the countless many. Essentially they are faced with the potential of finally acquiring covenant tech that could literally turn the tide of the war, SAVE humanity from extinction but they prioritize it on the same level as saving this clan of children that have grown up on this backwater planet. Im sorry but the spartans would In reality let all those kids die if it meant acquiring the tech, they would try to rescue/follow through on a promise but only if it meant 0 risk to the successful capture of alien tech. Bottom line, Halo books are at their best when focused around large space/ground battles, if you wanna go other direction like ghosts of onyx, or harvest, you have to understand the lore/halo universe, this author clearly doesnt. Ugh long rant I know, im a HUGE halo fan and i feel like there hasnt been a good book/game in years! Its just beyond frustrating.

Revisado: 10-08-20
( No Spoilers ) Like most most star wars that start out with new characters in new places with new plot lines it can be a bit confusing or hard to get into at first but like many other quality SW books, that is very brief and only complaint i can think of, granted its not the most amazing story like Bane or OG thrawn books but its compelling/engaging and fits nicely in between time periods in the OT movies as to provide familiarity/nostalgia. Marc Thompson and Jonathon Davis are in my opinion the BEST for sw audiobook narration. Performance was is flawless per usual. Overall defenitly worth your time especially for you fellow hardcore sw fans. I dont know if this pre or post disney, post disney books are very hit and miss but this is a hit. LISTEN TO IT ALREADY!

“I have sensed a disturbance in the Force.” Ominous words under any circumstances, but all the more so when uttered by Emperor Palpatine. On Batuu, at the edges of the Unknown Regions, a threat to the Empire is taking root - its existence little more than a glimmer, its consequences as yet unknowable. But it is troubling enough to the Imperial leader to warrant investigation by his most powerful agents: ruthless enforcer Lord Darth Vader and brilliant strategist Grand Admiral Thrawn.

Revisado: 10-01-20
If your a star wars fan, especially of audiobooks, and especially of timothy zahn, defenitly listen to this. I noticed people complaining about the duo of thrawn and Vader/Anakin but i felt it provided a very interesting take/perspective. In my opinion this book much easier to understand than the first. Disney is a farcry from legends thrawn yet you can tell timothy zahn is attempting to rebuild this thrawn to be as formidable as before but only so much he can do with disney making him out to be simply above average in star wars rebels. Hoping book 3 is better still.
