Nothing good ever comes from drinking a box of wine alone. So when I decided to entertain my drunken self by setting up some hand-me-down podcasting equipment and reading the steamy parts from romance novels, I never thought anyone would actually listen. The fact that I admitted my huge crush on my sexy next door neighbor made the whole thing even more mortifying. But sometimes life surprises you, and that’s how my podcast, Heidi’s Discount Erotica, was born. Now I, Heidi Larsen, a sweet former kindergarten teacher in Waconia, Minnesota, lead a scandalous double life.

I've listened to so many audiobooks they've kind of become formula. This book was refreshing, fun and just truly enjoyable. I'm sad it ended. I hope they team up and write another book.

Good....but
Revisado: 05-20-24
The sex scenes are just too long and too often. I feel like they are space fillers. I know some people like the sex scenes, maybe cut them down a bit. Multiple chapters of just a sex scene is a little much don't you think? I love the books and the stories otherwise. I didn't mind them so much in the earlier books, but now at this point, they're redundant.

I absolutely loved it. It brought me back to the 80s version of the show. The story still stands up. The performances and effects were fantastic . It was very enjoyable. I really hope they do the other books too.

Pleasantly Surprised!
Revisado: 10-23-23
Having been a huge fan of the show I was hesitant to give this book a try due to the alternate universe concept. I was concerned it would take away from the original story and characters. I am delighted to share I was wrong. It totally worked! I really enjoyed the story, the performance, being reacquainted with beloved characters and being introduced to alternate reality versions of some of those characters. I very much enjoyed it and am hopeful for more in the future. If you are a fan of the series I highly recommend it.

Something is very fishy about the stories her brothers have been telling her lately. Her niece, a 19-year-old prodigy with a PhD in bioinformatics, has gotten engaged to a much older guy she met while working on some top-secret project, and if Gabi's older, overprotective brother's approval of the engagement wasn't suspicious enough, he also uprooted his family and moved to be closer to the couple.

Back on Track!
Revisado: 09-26-23
I really enjoyed this book. I've found the last few arcs of characters lacking chemistry, and quite frankly a bit challenging to stay interested in. This one has restored zest to it. I was captivated by the story and the characters this time and couldn't wait to pick up the next book. I love this series so I'm thrilled we're back on track with some good story telling.

He was a stranger to me, a dark and dangerous presence who materialized from the shadows one rainy night to save me from a vicious attack. I didn’t know his name or where he was from. All I knew was that the only place I’d ever felt safe was in his arms. But safety is an illusion. And not every savior is a hero. And - as I’d soon find out - having a king save your life comes with a price. Liam Black wanted something from me in return.

Loved the story and the narration. Simply superb!
Revisado: 06-02-22
I rarely write a review, but I felt with this one it was needed. I absolutely loved the story-line (one of my new favorites). However, what also made it so great was how they did the dual narration. Typically with two narrators the female will do the male voices when she's reading the female chapters and the man will do the female voices when reading the male chapters. For this book they intertwined the narrators within the same chapter. Marnye Young read all the female parts and Troy Duran read all the male parts, which made the audible experience that much better. I really hope more books do it this way, because it really heightened the experience. Loved, loved, loved this book.

Very enjoyable! More Wallflowers than Ravenels.
Revisado: 08-02-21
Many beloved characters from the Wallflowers appeared in this one, which was very enjoyable. There were a few from The Ravenel's, but not the ones you would expect. It was a really fun read (or listen in my case). There was romance, humor and some mystery too.
I hope we get more books with characters from both the Wallflowers and the Ravenel's. What would be really fun if characters from the Hathways were to be included as well. A romance between one of the Wallflower's children and one of the Hathway's children perhaps?
If you haven't read The Hathway's series I highly recommend it. I recently discovered it, and didn't realize it was a spinoff of the Wallflowers. (It's post Wallflowers and pre Ravenels.) The first book had interactions with the Wallflowers characters. The following didn't, but the Hathway characters were also a lot of fun. So if you need a Wallflower's /Ravenel's world fix it's the series for you.

Nick Belanger can't stop thinking about the single mother who lives next door. She's smart. She's funny. She's so beautiful he can't stare at her too long for fear his eyes will start to glow. But Kayla thinks he's just an ordinary guy who works in security. Finding out he instead is a powerful immortal warrior who hunts and slays psychotic vampires for a living may not go over well, particularly since she has a daughter she doesn't want to endanger.

Good, but frustrated!
Revisado: 06-27-20
I did enjoy the book. However, I found myself confused through most of it, because Book 9 ended with a cliffhanger and several situations left unresolved. I was excited to start this book to continue the story and instead found it focusing on characters I don't recall hearing about in other books. It felt like a different story. About midway through some of the characters we know and love did show up, but there was very little reference to past events. It's was odd. Upon finishing the book I felt a bit unsatisfied due to the lack of continuance we normally get as we transition to each new book.
Fortunately, the other day I randomly discovered there is a spinoff series called The Lasaran (which is very good BTW). The answers to the cliffhanger where answered in that book. I wish at the end of Book 9 (or the beginning of Book 10) there was a heads-up to there being a spin-off book with the answers. If you haven't listened to this book yet, and you've listened to all the prior books, I recommend listening to The Lasaran first and then this one. This was good. I just would have enjoyed it more had I known the above beforehand.

Narration Problems
Revisado: 11-07-19
I read the reviews about the narration and I have to agree about how it hurt the book. The first hour of the book was painful to the point where i could tell I would enjoy the story, but the narration was ruining it for me. i felt like i was listening to a procedural documentary instead of a book. However, i will say the narration did improve with time. I'm not sure if I just got used to it or if it got better. I think a little bit of both. If you enjoy the series still it give a go. (Audible if you're listening I agree with other reviewers. A redo on the narration would do wonders for the book.)

One good narrator/One not so good narrator
Revisado: 06-15-19
I enjoyed the story. It was cute. However, I found the female narrator (Grace Grant) annoying. She over emphasized her sentences, especially when she was narrating Dylan. When she was reading I found it difficult to enjoy the story and couldn't get into the characters. When the male narrator (Jesse Metcalfe) was reading I found the story much more enjoyable. His narration was down to earth where Grace's didn't represent how people speak. In addition, because the styles were so different the story didn't feel in sync. I wish I could rate the narration by Narrator. I would give five stars to Jesse Metcalfe and one star (maybe two since there were normal speaking moments) to Grace Grant. Therefore, I averaged the two and gave a three rating overall.
