This book was the worst. Very few actual hot parts, which were mostly on the beginning. The rest was performative. I expected better from Lauren Blakely.

OMG, what is wrong with these reviewers? I’ve read all of the Lucas, Virgil & Letty books and this was just as good as the rest of them. There is no preaching — if you want that, try some of Barry Eisler’s or Tom Clancy’s books where the rants go on for pages and pages. The only significant portion of this book that focuses on guns is the last part, where an AR-14 effectively converted to fully auto with a bump stock plays a role. And contrary to what some reviewers, where we they’re from, are saying, most cops in big cities are not happy about lax gun laws.

I honestly don’t understand how the takeaways from this book are “I don’t want to hear all this complaining about easy access to AR-15’s!” The only thing that I find odd is why Lucas and Virgil go to McDonald’s all the time. Lucas has money, right? I realize they’re on the go tracking killers and stuff, but aren’t there any Wendy’s or Burger Kings around? How about Chipotle?

This book has a clever plot, interesting characters, familiar characters (love the way Lucas is always pulling Louis Mallard’s chain), and Sandford’s typical sharp wit.

I will say it was hard sometimes to hear Virgil voiced by Richard Ferrone. Not the same.

All in all, a really captivating book.

I'm a big fan of Matt Goldman's Nils Shapiro books and was a bit disappointed by this one. It took a time for something to actually happen. When he got to the murder I almost cheered out loud.

The plot was clever but I didn't bond with the characters. They were fine but felt flat to me. Most of all, I missed the quirkiness and wry humor of Nils Shapiro and his straight man, Anders Ellegaard. As some have pointed out, there are parallels to Harlan Coben but Coben is _hilarious_. I'll continue follow Matt Goldman but I'm hoping his next book is tighter and has some funny moments.

This one is wild! So inventive! Really hot romantic suspense but guaranteed to life you out of that genre rut. Loved it!

I'm a big fan of the Rockton series and have been looking forward to the spin-off. I was a bit disappointed in this book, however. It dragged on too long and the players and possibilities were a bit confusing. The ending was promising, and I'm looking forward to seeing how the relationships develop between the old gang from Rockton with the new folks in Havens Rock, several of whom were introduced in this book--including a surprise character at the end. Also, I would really enjoy seeing some passion between Casey and Eric, as there was in the first Rockton book. A few sexy times wouldn't hurt. 😉

This listen was a joy! All the laughs and feels, clever plot and hot sex.

One pet peeve -- which is not only in this book but also in the Harris Brothers books -- it's not John Hopkins. It’s Johns Hopkins! Really!

The worst of this waste-of-time trilogy

If you’re hanging in there to see if there’s any more action or excitement, save yourself and walk away now. Literally nothing happens in this book. Loose plot ends that could have gone somewhere are left dangling. Joe Arden’s narration is the only redeeming aspect of this series.

I read this trilogy because they were being taken out of Audible Plus. What a waste of time! I stuck with it because I kept hoping something would happen. Nothing happened. The only good thing about these books is Joe Arden.

I got through less than half of this book and finally pulled the plug. Moved way too slow. I had no feel for the characters. I don’t understand all the 5-star reviews. I almost always give a book the benefit of the doubt and finish them, but this was one of the few I could not stand listening to any more.

Not really a BDSM book

Revisado: 07-25-22

I enjoyed this book. The plot was inventive and the characters were well drawn. It's not about BDSM so much as D/S, although the whole relationship and the sex have a degree of "vanilla" (hot vanilla), and the book does not revolve around the nature of the characters’ sexual relationship. The narrator did an excellent job with Xavier's voice.
