Historia
Daphne always loved the way her fiancé Peter told their story. How they met (on a blustery day), fell in love (over an errant hat), and moved back to his lakeside hometown to begin their life together. He really was good at telling it…right up until the moment he realized he was actually in love with his childhood best friend Petra. Which is how Daphne begins her new story.

Historia
Sally Milz is a sketch writer for The Night Owls, a late-night live comedy show that airs every Saturday. With a couple of heartbreaks under her belt, she’s long abandoned the search for love, settling instead for the occasional hook-up, career success, and a close relationship with her stepfather to round out a satisfying life. But when Sally’s friend and fellow writer Danny Horst begins dating Annabel, a glamorous actress who guest-hosted the show, he joins the not-so-exclusive group of talented but average-looking and even dorky men at the show.

The narrator was great. The main character was believable as a normal human. It was interesting to follow and the people felt real.

Good depiction of how easy it is to fall into an abusive relationship
Revisado: 11-03-22
The main character seemed very real in her reactions and thought process. It is a tough situation and even harder for people who haven’t experienced it to understand. This is a good intro into understanding how abusive relationships form.
In my personal life, my husband is an amazing person… when sober. It took me 16 years to finally walk away. Colleen does a good job at depicting the “good times” that we stay for.

Good children’s book
Revisado: 10-10-22
This would be a good and fun series intro into si-fi for children.
However, if you are someone interested in actual science and theories around time travel, etc. this may not be for you. This story follows that when a character interacts with the past, it will alter their present time line which is very contradictory, unless they are working off of branching time lines?
The narration is fine, but a bit robotic. He is really good at showing the personalities of certain characters but falls flat a bit in other areas.

Annoyed
Revisado: 10-02-22
I finished this book but will not be continuing with the series. The story was predictable and repetitive. The author found a few things she liked and over used them throughout the entire book, like: he was looking at me but not seeing me, or I’d seen this view before but not like this and many other iterations of that. The author also restated the same sentences over and over again to make sure the reader was “keeping up”.
The narration- it was fine, just fine. All characters sounded the same with no nuance. In one instance the main character is rehearsing stating she is happy to be alive and happy to be here and is getting feedback from her PR rep until the desired emotion is achieved, but the narrator said the sentence in the same tone and same inflection each time making no emotional progress.
Combine the mediocre writing with the mediocre narration and this becomes a quick dud.

Historia
In the future, mankind has learned to manipulate their DNA, harnessing only the good genes, like intelligence, strength, and height. They called this prime DNA and humans rushed to get these new pDNA injections, which gave them superhuman-like qualities. Centuries later, however, their DNA became so engineered that humans rarely lived past the age of 30, thanks to a new deadly disease called the Kiss. The only cure is to receive an injection of oDNA, DNA from an Original human that hasn't been genetically altered. Problem is there aren't many Originals left.

YA book
Revisado: 05-01-22
I should preface this by saying i am in my 30’s and this is a YA novel. I do enjoy YA, Harry Potter, Hunger Games, etc, but this book was too juvenile. There is a lot of inconsistencies in the knowledge of the main character. The writing felt like it truly came from a preteen. Sometimes the narration can help save the book, but in this case the narrator felt flat and robotic. I thought the premise was interesting but the story telling didn’t hold up. I will not be finishing the series.

Historia
A towering genius who'd already solved the problem of death by making memory recording possible, Cassia leads a team of scientists and problem solvers to a station floating in the harsh winds of Saturn. Their mission: to grow interstellar ships using nanobots in the planet's material-rich environment. She called them "monsters" to help sell the project to a skeptical public. Little did she know how prophetic that name would become.

The story was good, i would like to see this fleshed out into a full length book with more tension. As it is, it was a fun short listen with an interesting ethical thought experiment.

this book is absolutely amazing!
Revisado: 05-24-17
Patrick went into incredible depth to create an entire world with histories and languages and folklore all original to them. there are imaginative stories inside of other stories that are very impressive in their realism to life's ups and downs. this is truly a wonderful world to get lost in.
