Historia
Biblical womanhood - the belief that God designed women to be submissive wives, virtuous mothers, and joyful homemakers - pervades North American Christianity. From choices about careers to roles in local churches to relationship dynamics, this belief shapes the everyday lives of evangelical women. Yet biblical womanhood isn't biblical, says Baylor University historian Beth Allison Barr. It was born in a series of clearly definable historical moments.

“Stop It”; “Go, Be Free”
Revisado: 02-17-23
It’s hard to deny the ongoing prominence of Christian patriarchy in today’s Western Church and it’s effect on not just women but the church as a whole. This book brings an in-depth scriptural, historical perspective to the conversation that is highly effective at debunking the assertion of male headship, acknowledges the abuse that stems from complementarianism, and points to the freedom that is found in letting systems of oppression go. I highly recommend this book to all Christians, men and women.

Sweet Story, Great Voice Actor
Revisado: 02-10-23
Very very good voice actor. The story is sweet. I love the ending for the heroine. Also love the focus on family and the individual experiences of each family member. Totally disagree with another reviewer who said the ending focused on lust? Lust is not even remotely a theme in this book.

Slow to Start but gets better
Revisado: 02-08-23
I found the second half of the book most helpful, slightly more in-depth and realistic human experiences than the first half. I disagree with one other reviewer who stated the book focused mostly on the pastor’s/author’s experiences. I felt the author took great care to focus on a myriad of experiences, those of other people and their reaction to their life experiences.
