Historia
Part memoir, part history, Burn Book is a necessary chronicle of tech’s most powerful players. This is the inside story we’ve all been waiting for about modern Silicon Valley and the biggest boom in wealth creation in the history of the world. When tech titans crowed that they would “move fast and break things,” Kara Swisher was moving faster and breaking news. While covering the explosion of the digital sector in the early 1990s, she developed a long track record of digging up and reporting the facts about this new world order.

Very interesting content - droopy narration
Revisado: 03-13-24
I am a very big Kara Swisher fan. She's a great writer, thoughtful, and a firecracker of a person. "Burn Book" has some great insights into the tech industry, beginning with her time at the Washington Post and continuing to her current state as a podcaster and occasional columnist. Unfortunately, she isn't a great narrator of books, including her own book. There's none of the joy, humor, or outrage you hear on her podcasts. Instead, she reads in a sulky monotone much of the time. Where's the real Kara? Inquiring minds want to know.

Too complicated and the subject matter was tough
Revisado: 10-25-23
I've read all seven of the Cormoran Strike novels. While better than the last one, the subject matter in this book was especially dark. There wasn't much in the way of a breather all the way through, and the book is over 34 hours long. My overall reaction: Too many characters, a very dark plot, very long, and not one bit of comic relief anywhere in the book. Maybe for the next book, "Robert Galbraith" might consider writing something that's a bit lighter and shorter (20 hours?) with just a bit of fun built in.

Historia
Birdie Binkowitz is just a little bitter. As a young actress, she was the toast of Hollywood, definitely destined for greatness. Then the dragons had to rise up from their thousand-year slumber, take over Earth and ruin everything. Twenty years later, Birdie is living her worst life in her hometown of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, working at her father's Seed and Feed (and Bagels). Then, a mysterious dragon appears in front of the store seeking her help. He’s got a bone to pick with his fellow dragons–and he wants to hit them where it hurts.

Historia
It took one hell of an effort for the authorities to finally get the jump on master manipulator Bianca St. Ives, but now that they have, it’s far from the capture she expected. Instead of taking her in, there’s an offer on the table, a one-shot deal that would allow Bianca to walk away scot-free as if they’d never found her. And all she has to do is run one last mission - the kind she might never return from. But if Bianca wants to go back to her normal life in Savannah, it’s not like she has a choice.

Historia
Jason Bourne, international assassin of deadly repute, was an identity assumed by covert agent David Webb. Retired from the CIA and now a professor at Georgetown University, Webb's life is finally his own—until he becomes the target of an assassin and is framed for the murder of his two closest associates. Fighting for his life against unseen assailants, the Bourne identity asserts itself, leaving Jason Bourne in control. Barely a half-step ahead of his nemesis and the CIA, who believes he has gone rogue, Bourne finds himself a pawn in a larger, far deadlier game.

There is no chance that anything that happens in this book of any significance would happen in real life. While it’s entertaining in spots, you also have to suffer through some very bad writing and clunky narration.

Miracle and Wonder: Conversations with Paul Simon is part memoir, part investigation, and unlike any creative portrait you’ve ever heard before. Recorded over a series of 30 hours of conversation between Simon, Gladwell, and Gladwell’s oldest friend and co-writer, journalist and Broken Record podcast co-host Bruce Headlam, the conversation flows from Simon’s music, to his childhood in Queens, NY, to his frequent collaborators including Art Garfunkel and the nature of creativity itself.

Revisado: 12-16-21
I own every Paul Simon album. I like or love all of them, and I’ve read many interviews with and been to many concerts by Paul Simon. Still, I learned so many things from this audiobook. Paul was dialed in. Malcolm and his partner did a great job of maximizing what I learned. And, if you thought Paul Simon was retiring, well, apparently not. There is more to come.

Too long - weak writing - wandering story line
Revisado: 12-09-21
The premise of "Never" is good - a warning about the road to Armageddon. The execution is weak. Some storylines are unnecessary.. Follett's writing is lazy and contains many cliches and a lot of repetition. Some of the characters are well developed; others are cartoonish even though their roles are important. At 10 hours, this book might have been worth it. At 22 hours, I couldn't wait for it to end. On a positive note, as always, January LeVoy is fantastic as the narrator.
