Historia
Tornadoes, cyclones, tsunamis… Weather can be deadly – especially when it strikes without warning. Millions of Americans could soon find themselves at the mercy of violent weather if the public data behind lifesaving storm alerts gets privatized for personal gain. In his first Audible Original feature, New York Times best-selling author and journalist Michael Lewis delivers hard-hitting research on not-so-random weather data – and how Washington plans to release it.

Great short listen!

Michael Lewis is one of my favorite authors and he delivers with both his writing and performance. Fascinating insight into corruption affecting data collection for critical public services.

Great journey through the concept of energy
Revisado: 07-25-15
Great narration & introduction to energy and the role it plays in our lives. First chapters are a little bit like high school textbook but after that foundation the ideas continue to build on previous concepts. I look forward to listening to Smil's "Oil" next.

Historia
Last year was a “blood year” in the Middle East - massacres and beheadings, fallen cities, collapsed and collapsing states, the unravelling of a decade of Western strategy. We saw the rise of ISIS, the splintering of government in Iraq, and foreign fighters - many from Europe, Australia and Africa - flowing into Syria at a rate ten times that during the height of the Iraq War. What went wrong? In Blood Year, David Kilcullen calls on twenty-five years’ experience to answer that question.

Historia
An epic story of survival at all odds and one of the most anticipated books of the year. In a ruined and hostile landscape, in a future few have been unlucky enough to survive, a community exists in a giant underground silo. Inside, men and women live an enclosed life full of rules and regulations, of secrets and lies. To live, you must follow the rules. But some don't. These are the dangerous ones; these are the people who dare to hope and dream, and who infect others with their optimism.

Good story, ok narration
Revisado: 06-20-15
Good story with a fascinating dystopian concept. I'm looking forward to Shift. Unfortunately the narration was competent but not really captivating.

Historia
Power is shifting - from large, stable armies to loose bands of insurgents, from corporate leviathans to nimble start-ups, and from presidential palaces to public squares. But power is also changing, becoming harder to use and easier to lose. As a result, argues award-winning columnist and former Foreign Policy editor Moisés Naím, all leaders have less power than their predecessors, and the potential for upheaval is unprecedented.

Synthesizes a collection of ideas
Revisado: 01-15-15
I have been exposed to most of the ideas already but Naim brought them together and clarified elements I was not familiar with. A great read that sweeps across a range of environments where power is changing.
