Insightful, Applied, and Inspiring
Revisado: 12-21-23
Teresa’s book stands on the shoulders of previous publications so it might be unfair to say this, but it’s the best book available for Product Management. Not only is it good theory, but Teresa includes very practical advice I wish I had thought of a decade ago.

Historia
Developing and implementing a strategy is the central task of a leader. A good strategy is a specific and coherent response to - and approach for - overcoming the obstacles to progress. A good strategy works by harnessing and applying power where it will have the greatest effect. Yet, Rumelt shows that there has been a growing and unfortunate tendency to equate Mom-and-apple-pie values, fluffy packages of buzzwords, motivational slogans, and financial goals with “strategy”.

Decent Information. His style is a little hard for me to swallow
Revisado: 09-21-23
His description of strategy seems solid and I learned a lot that I hope to apply in my work. I stopped reading the first time around because, the way he openly shames in almost every chapter, business leaders, politicians, and anyone who made what he deems to be an error in judgment left such a distaste in my mouth. I think he could have told his stories and the resulting lessons and been more gracious to historical actors, many of whom did more for this country and world in a single week than the author will do in a lifetime. Once I got past his openly vindictive style, I learned a lot. I picked it up again on the recommendation of a business professional I admire. And I’m glad I did.

Stephen R. Covey's book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, has been a top seller for the simple reason that it ignores trends and pop psychology for proven principles of fairness, integrity, honesty, and human dignity. Celebrating its 15th year of helping people solve personal and professional problems, this special anniversary edition includes a new foreword and afterword written by Covey that explore whether the 7 Habits are still relevant and answer some of the most common questions he has received over the past 15 years.

Historia
Man’s Search for Meaning is the chilling yet inspirational story of Viktor Frankl’s struggle to hold on to hope during the unspeakable horrors of his years as a prisoner in Nazi concentration camps. Between 1942 and 1945 Frankl labored in four different camps, including Auschwitz, while his parents, brother, and pregnant wife perished. Based on his own experience and the experiences of those he treated in his practice, Frankl argues that we cannot avoid suffering, but we can choose how to cope with it, find meaning in it, and move forward with renewed purpose.

Why I was made to waste time learning Freud in school, when there already existed a much better alternative philosophy, I may never know- but this book is a fantastic view into the inner workings of the soul of human beings. Well worth the time to read this book!

Another home run hit from Clayton Christensen!
Revisado: 12-09-20
I always enjoy Clayton Christensen's thorough and clear approach to business theory. This book is no exception. I'm thoroughly convinced Jobs Theory provides a more powerful framework for product development than the default methods of building products based on what customers asked for. I'll admit I don't feel fully prepared to apply this theory based on this book alone, but will now be seeking out additional resources to guide the application of the principles outlined in this book.

Some helpful info, but pumping his own products-
Revisado: 05-02-19
Reader beware- While this book provides some interesting information, the fact that it leads to his products causes me to pause and reflect on the objectivity of the information. I have a really hard time buying into his science that says drinking coffee is going to increase my energy- regardless of how mold-free the beans are supposed to be. He is the only person I have ever heard say this, and he happens to be selling his own brand of coffee. Reader beware. I'll be returning this one.

Great book! Far exceeded my expectations
Revisado: 05-01-19
Listening to this book was a wonderful journey around the World, through trials of business and human relationships. And while I don’t share his world view on everything, I found his insights on relationships and truth to be quite inspiring. I found this book to be a wonderful, enjoyable, inspiring, and educational read. I look at my son and daughters differently now. I look at money and business obstacles differently, with better understanding, and more patience, with more gratitude for the relationships, and blessings in my life.

Some Powerful Concepts and Insights about Leadership
Revisado: 02-18-19
There are some powerful concepts here, that have increased my motivation to become a better leader. I do wish he spent less time talking about discarding people whom he judged will never be great leaders. An even higher principle of leadership would be to work with anyone, anytime, and anywhere, meet them where they are, and help them take the next step, whatever that means for them. Aside from this, John Maxwell shares a lot of great experience and wisdom about the need to build a dream team of leaders if you want to grow your organization.

Love This Book!
Revisado: 09-20-18
This might have been titled: Life’s Missing Instruction Manual for Parenting, Managing, and Making a Difference in the World. Clayton Christensen’s theory-based approach to life and business is unparalleled. And in this book, he gives us several hidden gems of wisdom to succeed not only in business, but more importantly in life. This book was well worth my time! I intend to read it again.
