Unexpected Brilliance

What I expected but hoped it would be different.
Revisado: 11-21-22
There is no question that there is value in this book and the 5 love languages. There is solid evidence of the value of learning yours and your partners love languages. If nothing else, getting the two of you to talk on a mor intimate level is valuable.
I can even say that the Christian based ideas discussed are valuable, I am a Christian and so it fits. But even if I weren’t there is value in some of the Christian values discussed and interjected into relationships. Everyone should be open to good and helpful information whatever the source.
The part of this that I really struggle with and is the reason for my low rating is the idea that every marriage should be saved. I am sorry but I do not believe that. I was married for 30 plus years and was the one (I am the male) who tried to get my spouse to counseling for our marriage and herself.
We did and it did not help. For all intents and purposes I was abused by my spouse and I was willing to stay together if things changed. Which would have been a huge mistake. Our marriage should have never happened and if we had ‘fixed’ it we still would have been miserable.
I think the idea that every marriage can and should be fixed is wrong and potentially damaging. You need to be open to the idea that two people may just not be what is best for both.

Historia
This is the full story of the unstoppable rise of Clarkson, Hammond, May and The Stig – and how they have transformed an ordinary programme about cars into one of the most famous and best-loved TV programmes of the 21st century. Reaching a peak in the 1990s thanks to presenter Jeremy Clarkson, the original series then faced the axe in 2001 – but Clarkson and producer Andy Wilman successfully pitched a new format to BBC bosses and Top Gear returned to become the irreverent, funny and often controversial show we now know and love.

Great for background details
Revisado: 03-03-22
I thought this was very well done. I know some have criticized that it contains no new information I don't care. I am an American and for UK folks who had access to the news about Top Gear maybe that is so. But for me there was some great background information on the presenters, producers and other important folks. There is also great history about the show for us folks outside the UK. I don't think it has the energy that Hammonds books do but that is just writing and reading style.
if you are a true fan of the New Top Gear then I think you enjoy this.
It is by far and away my favorite TV program. No sex, no drugs, no blood and gore. Just child like fun, excitement and fascination.

Honest and touching
Revisado: 02-22-22
I loved how honest this was, including the yelling, fear, joy, tenderness etc. All the kinds of emotion you would expect when faced with a trial like this. The Hammond clan seem to be close and genuine. Mindy and Richard have a wonderful relationship and I appreciate them sharing their struggles with the world.
The story flows well and is very interesting and I didn't want to stop until I was done.
Thank you!
