Historia
Eve looks like an ordinary 12-year-old girl, but there’s nothing ordinary about her. She has no last name. No parents or guardian. She’s on the run from a dangerous and secretive organization that will stop at nothing to track her down. And most astonishing of all: she’s a robot, a product of Eden Laboratories. When Eve discovers the truth, she realizes everything she thought she knew about herself is a lie. Eve manages to escape, fleeing the lab, the only home she’s ever known.

Historia
Ian Dunross, the current tai-pan of the illustrious yet financially troubled Struan empire, is racing to undo the damage his predecessor left behind and to once again stand on stable ground. And he’ll do whatever it takes—including striking a hard-fought deal with an American millionaire. But his rival, Quillan Gornt, has other plans. Suddenly caught in a dubious plot involving Soviet spies, Hong Kong’s criminal underground, and the hostile takeover of his company, Dunross holds nothing back in the fight for the Noble House.

Historia
In this irreverent and illuminating audiobook, acclaimed writer and scientist Leonard Mlodinow shows us how randomness, chance, and probability reveal a tremendous amount about our daily lives, and how we misunderstand the significance of everything from a casual conversation to a major financial setback. As a result, successes and failures in life are often attributed to clear and obvious causes, when in actuality they are more profoundly influenced by chance.

Humbling and empowering, nihilistic and freeing
Revisado: 05-08-17
It is hard, after reading this book, to come away thinking we have control over our successes or failures.

Historia
For more than 50 years, the world's top scientists searched for the "missing" planet Vulcan, whose existence was mandated by Isaac Newton's theories of gravity. Countless hours were spent on the hunt for the elusive orb, and some of the era's most skilled astronomers even claimed to have found it. There was just one problem: It was never there.

Of the best scientific story telling
Revisado: 04-25-17
I love a good, personal, story of science. This is a well told account of the successes and failures of both people and scientific theories at the dawning of the era of modern physics.

Good technical scifi, didn't love the full cast
Revisado: 04-08-17
The story, or rather stories, were really good. the cast was ok. The full cast was distracting. Luckily most of the book is broken into stories of each of the characters and their read those on their own. When the cast read together their dialogs were broken up by the different voiced narrator saying "he said", "she said" which was really immersion breaking. Also the voice actor for the female character was terrible, she did not match her character at all. Despite all that this was a really well written story and can stand on its own.

Historia
Already internationally acclaimed for his elegant, lucid writing on the most challenging notions in modern physics, Sean Carroll is emerging as one of the greatest humanist thinkers of his generation as he brings his extraordinary intellect to bear not only on the Higgs boson and extra dimensions but now also on our deepest personal questions. Where are we? Who are we? Are our emotions, our beliefs, and our hopes and dreams ultimately meaningless out there in the void?

Broad and deep
Revisado: 09-15-16
Of course Sean Carroll was going to give brilliant commentary on physics. His chapters on ontology and how we know what we know were also excellent. I expected things to get fuzzy in the sections that left the realm of science, the chapters on morals and meaning, but those where were Carroll was at his best.

A preeminent geneticist hunts the Neanderthal genome to answer the biggest question of them all: what does it mean to be human? What can we learn from the genes of our closest evolutionary relatives? Neanderthal Man tells the story of geneticist Svante Pbo’s mission to answer that question, beginning with the study of DNA in Egyptian mummies in the early 1980s and culminating in his sequencing of the Neanderthal genome in 2009.
