Historia
Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

Excellent book in meetings with Sanderson styles.

in spite of its length, the story flows effortlessly. At first some of the references are obscure, but don't let this throw you off.It gets more clear as you proceed. The story is excellent.

A few problems with writing
Revisado: 03-29-16
This story is a good one and I like the premise of a war between Pakistan and India (an all too real possibility in today's political climate). However, some piggy the characterizations gave me pause. I has a hard time accepting that an Islamic terrorist would cuss like an octogenarian retired Merchant Marine, much less tell his contrary to "Shut his piehole." This suspended my believability of the character and almost turned it into a comedy to me. It seemed totally out of place. But other than that, a pretty well told story.

Historia
History has all but forgotten.... In the spring of 1708, an invading Jacobite fleet of French and Scottish soldiers nearly succeeded in landing the exiled James Stewart in Scotland to reclaim his crown. Now, Carrie McClelland hopes to turn that story into her next best-selling novel. Settling herself in the shadow of Slains Castle, she creates a heroine named for one of her own ancestors and starts to write. But then she discovers her novel is more fact than fiction....

Great narrator!!
Revisado: 06-16-15
I felt Ms. Landor deftly used accents and vocal timber to excellent advantage. She made the stories characters pop into life. Both male and female voices are expertly rendered.
The stories use of point of view was also well done and added to the intrigue of the story and situations. I grew to embrace the characters as friends and felt much empathy for them as their trials increased. A very good and satisfying read.

Excellent narration
Revisado: 06-20-05
When I listen to an audio book, the thing that makes it most enjoyable to me is the ability of the narrator to attach a unique vocal pattern to the characters that makes the conversations immediately decernable. In this case, heavy accents or not, the narrator does a superb job. I was never at a loss to determine who was speaking nor did I miss the emotion that the character was exhibiting at the moment. The book overall was a pretty good plot device made more interesting by the narration. An enjoyable listen.

He and the Anti-Terrorist Task Force must stop "The Lion," an alleged Libyan terrorist with the instincts of a wild animal, the bloodlust of a carnivore, and the boldness and speed of a cat of prey.

Great ride...
Revisado: 08-08-03
What a grand story. I was held throughout the novel by the way the author got into the psyche of this terrorist. It gave me pause to see how this individual thought, especially in light of the terrorist activities today. The moral system of the Middle Eastern society is so totally different and this story really accentuates that difference. And the narrator was superb. Great vocal characteristics and pacing. Very well done.
