Though this book was published in 2004, it’s scary relevant today. Just replace antisemitism with election deniers and Hitler with Putin, who interferes with US elections and manipulated a U.S. president.

A fun comic book

A fun story that reads like a 50’s comic book. It comes off a little goofy as the narrator sounds like Rod Sterling from the Twilight Zone. While there is plot progress, there is little resolution, so like a comic book, we must wait for the next issue.

Such a pleasure to listen to a well written Sci-Fi novel. If you’ve downloaded a bit of Sci-Fi from Audible, you’ll know this is a rarity. I look forward to venturing into more of the First Contact series.

Nonstop action, blood, & gore

Continuous action, but be prepared for nonstop mayhem, blood, and gore. A lot of it. Add to this the tired formula of not killing the bad guy despite multiple chances. You can guess what happens next. But I guess that allows the author to stretch the story over three books.

23 Hours and NOTHING is resolved

I was initially interested in this audiobook due to the advertised interaction with the cyborg, but Murderbot this is NOT. A fairly interesting story, poorly written, and ruined by cringeworthy banter between the characters. I guess this was an attempt at humor which didn’t work for me. I had to increase the playback speed to 1.2 to get through it.

They. Them. Really?

I enjoyed this well written and delightful novella, but the use of gender-neutral pronouns was sometimes confusing and always irritating. For example, our hero Dex is consistently referred to as “they.” Ironic that a monk who cherishes solitude is labeled with a plural pronoun.
